yes! I did find I lovely fabric that I HOPE will work, I havent tested it out yet. I ALSO found my sashing strips :D so I am looking forward to some sewing in the near future... it would be nice.... sigh...

did I tell yall I have ANOTHER wedding quilt coming my way? thankfully I already have all of the fabric needed save the backing, and it will be a simple enough pattern, Im thinking Ohio Star, unless something better catches my eye ;)

I have figured out that I need about 25 more blocks for my 2 quilts. Today I finished cutting the fabric for those blocks!! That means next week I can just SEW! YAY!!! When I got done with the blocks I took the KT fabrics left (I used several FQs) and cut 2 1/2" strips.

I don't always have this much energy...some days are just lots more productive than others. :)

I had more time on a Saturday than usual because our children are staying at my mom's this weekend. DH and I cut firewood this morning and after cleaning up the house I spent time cutting fabric while DH napped. Tonight I made corn chowder, while it was cooking I cut fabric for several of my "Quilts for Rosie" blocks...just 5 more of those left to cut for.

DH mom, brother/SIL, and nephew/family are all coming over for lunch tomorrow. We don't see them too often so it should be a nice time.

Corn Chowder Ummmmmm... We happen to like corn in our family ...I have never made corn chowder...would you share your recipe????? I just purchased some corn on the cob...it might be the last of the local corn around here..would love to make something different for dinner...

Honchey--not my recipe originally, but I have altered it to make it my own. :) I increase the chicken broth, corn, and potatoes....it just depends on how big of batch I want. Additions/what I do in (). Basically I make it a batch big enough for a couple meals for a family of 5.

1 large onion, chopped (I use yellow/vadalia)
1/2c. butter
2 1/2c. water (I use chicken broth instead of water and add more to make sure potatoes are covered for cooking)
2-14.75oz cans cream corn (4-6 cans)
4 medium potatos, peeled and cut into approx 1/2" cubes (8-10)
2c. milk
1 1/2t. salt
3/4t. pepper

Saute onion in butter until tender in large soup pot. Add water (or broth), corn and potatoes. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer 16-20 min or until potatoes are tender. Reduce heat to low. Stir in milk, salt and pepper. Cook for 5-10 min or until heated through, stirring occasionally. If need to thicken, I mix a little water with cornstarch and whisk in slowly.

I made it last night for today because we like it thick...by cooling it completely and then reheating it, it is always thicker. Just took the apple crisp out of the oven and the catfish is now baking. DH was in charge of the fish, he likes to cook and I am HAPPY to let him. :) He found a recipe for a "rub" that has lemon juice and several spices. We've had it once before and it was very good.

DS (12yr) caught the fish this summer in the river by our house. He takes care of catching and cleaning the fish. Plus he does the best job frying the fish when we eat it that way. This was a very good summer for fishing...I guess at least the drought was good for something!

Honchey--I would guess the chowder would be much better with fresh corn! I've never creamed my own corn, but maybe you know how to do that. :) If you try it, let me know what you think!

Yes...we do have company coming, but since everything is ready I am messing around on the quilting board. Otherwise I will just keep wondering around the house finding something else that could be done!

So happy you finally got a good rain, Barb; now hope that it travels on up to us. May be the Indian Chief washed his car and left it outside, so it rained!! Works better than a rain dance in the moonlight...

JeanieG, found a source on the internet for duck eggs in California; they will ship 18 duck eggs directly to you for only $54.95...wonder how they ship them in PO parcel post rates...gee whiz, we will order more duck hens if we could sell for half that price...its the duck that lays a golden egg!!
