The FWS Pony Club Quilt-Along wk 40 (WOW!) Sheep Fold & Star of Hope Discussion Page

I didn't think I'd have room for the WOW!...I think the cooler weather has the group talking more...Very Nice!..Sheep Fold is very appropiate for the group getting together.. I am still getting it together...Thanks QNS for the stuff I couldn't find around here...I should have it done soon...I donated a quilt for a fund raiser that my niece is sponsering for the Boy's Scouts..She's very active in the group with her 2 sons...I'll be going to the "Tricky Tray" this Friday... I'll post a photo of it later after I get DS to hold it uo for me...I'm working this Thursday...Yay! a fun day for me...Time for dinner then to the sewing machine....H.

Coming down for the final quarter mile, time to weed out what we are going to use and what we are not going to use.. two more blocks to design tomorrow, then I can sew the last eight blocks and go on to other things I have ask to do...:o:thumbup: How do we get volunteered and say 'yes' when its 'maybe' or 'no'...???

Keeping family happy is a full time job, weather its just dh or the whole clan of Ma & Pa Kettle. To bad we did not have 13 kids to raise, 'cause I keep on cookin' up too much food...and hate to waste it...rather have it go to someone's waist...and our kids all live too far away. Bf is too far away...she can drive now, on limited distances...love to butcher turkeys, but there is no room in the freezer and I have begun to doubt about having the freezer free up much...may have to can the turkeys!

It is hard to believe it has been 40 weeks! I decided not to make these blocks since I don't "need" them for my 2 quilts. Instead I chose some harder ones (what was I thinking??). I am working on "Kansas" right now...didn't get to sew today and I work tomorrow, so Thursday will be the day I finish and hopefully get a couple more done. Other than school and a little squirrel hunting with ds I don't have much going on.

40 weeks! Oh wow, I'm so far behind. I really have enjoyed this pony ride. Soon I'll be makin' my blocks I promise.

Here is how I'm planning to put my PC quilt together. I've slapped it on the design wall just to get a feel if what I was thinking would even work. I really like the results for the layout. The real test will be when I start quilting blocks and putting them together. I know that there are variances in the block dimensions so it will still be challenging to use PC blocks as backings and have a completely reversible quilt. I'm figuring 50 blocks per side since I'll have the bonus blocks to work with. I haven't had a cold in YEARS so the one I'm battling is making up for it. QNSue, I think the Vicks is working. I didn't cough as much last night but I couldn't even smell it when I put it on even though my head seems to be pretty clear. Yup, it's settled in my chest and completely sapped my energy. I might be able to cut out a block later but it sure can't be very challenging! My joining strips will be a 3/4 inch dark green which will keep the PC blocks from getting lost entirely. OMG GGal ... that's incredible!! I'm awestruck!
I know you are wanting to do QAYG, but have you thought of just joining these as is?
I like the way they are with those alternating blocks. It gives an Irish Chain look to it.
Probably there's a proper quilting name to those blocks and the design they create.
I REALLY like how it is bringing the colours together ... and I think you'd lose that with the strips when doing QAYG.
Just some thoughts from the Peanut Gallery!! :D

So that's side one ... what is going to be on side two?
I wait in total anticipation to see what it will be like!

GGal that's incredible. The gentle curve in the center of the connecting block adds such a subtle rhythm to the overall design and softens all the sharp points in the blocks.
QNS--freezer full? less car trips to the grocery store!! You two are a self sufficient pair.

Note to Carrie--yes I'll make bonus blocks so add my name to the list!
Gotta dash--today is recycle day at the local garbage pickup and have lots of plastic to get rid of. Then off to LFC (local feed co-op) to pick up winter rye for DH to plant this afternoon. Had a little shower yesterday with a 70% chance of rain on Sat. Timing would be wonderful if that happened.

Oh wow, Oh wow, Ggal. That is incredible. I love the way the curved blocks add movement. I agree with QE about maybe not using sashing--it would break up the "path" the curved blocks make. Oh wow! I'm speechless!!

*giggle* LFC! :)

<clap><clap><clap>
Yeaaaaaaaaa!!!!
I'm glad there'll be OKSGlad BBs!!! :D

GG - I love your quilt just as it is. Those alternating blocks are wonderful! I agree with QuiltE and Jan, you will lose the pattern if you put sashing strips on. But whatever you do, it is gorgeous!
