Hi There Cowpokes, How's the block situation coming along???
I want eye candy..boom, boom, boom, boom .....pretty, pretty eye candy!

I only have the easy one again. I swear there are no crooked seams here!

carriem 02-21-2012 07:13 PM

Very bright and cheerful! Love the swirly fabric!

oksewglad 02-21-2012 07:42 PM

Oh wow I am early again, I have been so busy but managed to get these finished on the weekend. Hope you like them
Beautiful block Honchey, my centre of Clover Blossom is a little off but I am not undoing it, I am striving for a beautiful quilt not a perfect one.

QuiltE 02-21-2012 08:38 PM

Honchey ... while you have one done, I see you are already into next week's blocks! A good way to disguise stripes being straight (or not) ... use waves! Nice colour in that block. I like it!

MiraB ... Your blocks always seem so fresh and spring-like! Another pair of winners.

Moi? I have my two done ... just not photo'd yet! On tomorrow's to do list.

Good Night all ........zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!! :)

oksewglad 02-21-2012 09:01 PM

Okay who's going to see it on a galloping horse, MiraB. Each time I see your blocks I just smile and think what a beautiful quilt this will be.

JeanieG 02-21-2012 10:45 PM

Beautiful blocks again Mirabelle! Love the colors and fussy cutting in Clover Blossom. I've mine done also, but, like QuiltE, need to scan them. Tomorrow for mine as well!

Anne I love the bright colors you used, really adds movement to a very "straight" block.
Mirabelle-you achieved pretty, really beautiful fabric and blocks.
Here are mine-not my favorite fabrics but I tried to stick to the theme of the blocks.

gardnergal970 02-22-2012 05:54 AM

Awwwww...my favorite morning. Honchey, your block really wakes us up so we better get going, huh?

Maribelle, your choice of fabrics are beautiful. You'll wind up with a beautiful rose garden when you're done.

JanR, your blocks look great. Good way to use not the favorite fabric and achieve a good block.

I'll have mine later this week. Needed to clear my sewing table of my granddaughter's quilt which I plan to mail today. The piecing went so fast but I really got bogged down with the quilting. Not my favorite thing at this point but I'm learning.

QuiltE 02-22-2012 06:05 AM

Good Morning Ladies!

JanRN ... with not so fabourite fabrics, perhaps you like the results ... as much as I do!! Those greens really sing and the diagonal seems to break up the stripey-ness (new word!) in the Corral! Well done!!

I'm starting to regret my decision to have the yellow and/or anchor fabric in every block. :(
I'm not sure it worked so well for the Clover Blossom (note, Red Clover!). And then it made the Colt's Corral a little too yellow. I might re-do it, as I just didn't get the stripes right either ... oh for the dangers of stripes!! I knew it, and shouldn't have tried it while in the sick ward!

OK...mine are done for this week......QuiltE.....really like your fabric choices......I cannot, for the life of me, get a "straight" picture, but you all get the idea.....LOL! They really are square (I hope)!

OOPS! I should have ironed these better....oh well,..:(

wendiq 02-22-2012 08:40 AM

Honchey, that wavy fabric is perfect for this block.......I also like the bright colors.

wendiq 02-22-2012 08:41 AM

Mirabelle......I'm with you about pretty, not perfect!!!!

gardnergal970 02-22-2012 09:25 AM

QuiltE...I like your blocks. If you aren't sure of the yellow in each block, maybe you could add a secondary background color for some and mix them up. Sashing will also make a difference.

Wendig..you've certainly lassoed the corral. Your corners on the other block are spot on. Great work.

When I saw all your blocks I said to myself, wow!

Honchey, I love your bright colors and the swirl fabric!

mirabelle, you WILL have a beautiful quilt. No one will see any slight imperfections, they don't matter. I'm learning that myself.

janRN, your blocks look great, I like them, nice job!!

QuiltE, I really like the yellow in your blocks. You have green clovers and I love the contrast in colt's corral. Great job! Hope you feel better soon!

wendiq, Great fabrics, beautiful colors in clover blossom!!

I have just finished mine.

janRN 02-22-2012 09:46 AM

Thank you all for the compliments. I love all your blocks.
QuiltE, I like the yellow background, your blocks are so cheery. I started out trying to use the same background in all my blocks but I found it too limiting. Some of the fabrics I wanted to use didn't work with the white so I'm back to mixing my backgrounds to suit the block.
Wendi, that rope fabric makes that block "move" and your contrast with the red & blue is so nice.
Termi, you have the cutest fabric-love the horseshoes and little sheep. Both blocks are so cute.

dublb 02-22-2012 10:49 AM

Termi, such cute blocks! The wood boards are great with the red w/horseshoes, & the green clover w/sheep..!

QuiltE 02-22-2012 11:35 AM

WOW!! Lots of new stuff since I was here this morning!! :)

WendiQ ... Nice subtle contrast in the rope and plain fabrics, and keeps it from not being so stripey. It looks like that rope is just winding from one strip to the other, under the plain. Great mix of the ol' RW+B in the Clover Blossom.

Termi .... oooohhh I like those fabrics. You worked hard to get those horseshoes and the boards all in the same direction for all the pieces. Nicely done and envious of those two fabrics. Cute little sheep in the clover patch!!

Thanks everyone, for giving me a boost on my blocks. I do like the cheery-ness of the yellow, just that I'm thinking some of the blocks just would look better if I didn't have it there! :) Good idea,
GGal about a 2nd background fabric. Wonder what?

I'm trying to not get myself too bothered at this point as I know the sashing can really make a difference. Plus it's still early, and with more blocks, as I choose fabrics to help coordinate more, I know the look will keep changing!

Anael 02-22-2012 02:00 PM

So many great blocks! I'm going to do mine tomorrow (I hope) but I won't make Colt's Corral as I don't like this block.

gardnergal970 02-22-2012 02:42 PM

Termi..such attention to detail. I never noticed the boards until it was mentioned and the you got a sheep in each triangle. Fun.

Oh no! Earlier today I logged on & saw Termi's blocks & didn't even see everyonelse's blocks. :o
Jan - Great contrast with your Colts Corral, & lovely green Clover Blossom!
QuiltE - Colver in Clover Blossom. Brilliant, & your strips look good to me! I like the yellow, so cheery, but if your not happy with it then use less of it in your other blocks. Like you said we've only just started, with 74 more blocks to go.
Windiq - What! Rope in the Corral??? He He. Just perfect! And that blue just pops in your Clover Blossom.

Well here's mine.

Great blocks all!! Giving me lots of ideas for my blocks. :)

Carrie

JeanieG 02-22-2012 07:16 PM

Hi Everyone, well I WAS going to post my blocks. When scanning my Clover Blossom, I glanced up at it and "Oh No", the side triangles were going the wrong direction. Augggggg!!! :hunf: Gotta rip them apart and fix!

Carrie

Yep one of the perks of not being first, Carrie
Jeanie, ripit, ripit, I hear a frog singing in the West. So sorry.
Jan what a great bright clover green background and I so like the diagonal lines in Colt's Corral; it relaxes the regimented lines of the block
QE, is there a bit o' the luck o' the Irish and a dash from the pot o'gold in that there block! Red clover hay--great tunnels of green stretching across the field. Need warm windy days to get it dry as it's so heavy but makes good hay if it doesn't get rained on. Placing your stripes vertically just challenged you a bit!
wendiq, really like the solid fabric in contrast with the ropes and what a pretty red/blue combination in the clover block.
termi, What a wonderful job of FC those ponies; shows a shtrong repetition of design with the well cut heads. And those little lambs are knee deep in clover.
Anael, What are you going to replace the Corral block with?
dublb, What a perfect complement to the Corral block! They look like they were made for each other.

OKAY back to the salt mines.!!

mirabelle 02-22-2012 08:00 PM

Beautiful blocks everyone, they all look so different, each week brings new surprises

QuiltE 02-22-2012 09:10 PM

Oh don't worry DublB ... we never noticed!!

I think I like those the most of all of yours so far. Nice twist on the flag with your replacement block!! ;)
The clover in the clover, is actually is some St. Paddy's fabric that I've had around for years. Did you see the "bling" in it?

I'm happier with my yellow tonight .... what a difference it makes when you make a pretty pretty block that you really like!! Yes, I did next week's ... so that now I can focus on FWS starting this weekend. Yahoooooooooooo!!!

JeanieG ... oh dear! Looks like some frog stitching tomorrow. Isn't that just so annoying!

OKSGlad ... Yeppir ... just shouldn't have tried it when I wasn't really "with it" because of my cold! I thought I was being smart and avoiding the challenge of getting stripes straight when put in there lengthwise ... and then blew it! :) Yes, I think I'm going to remake it .... but not sure if I want to use the stripes or something else I might have. And worse still for that Red Clover, if you're trying to combine it! Great stuff ... but! :)

Anael 02-23-2012 01:13 AM

Yes, I'm going to replace Colt's Corral with End of the Day. I'm working on it now, will post a pic as soon as I'm finished :D

dublb: your Flags and Hearts is gorgeous!

Sweet!!!
Looks like End of Day is a bright Start to the Day! :)

gardnergal970 02-23-2012 05:17 AM

Abel...I agree with QuiltE. Seeing it is a great way to start my day.

Dubib...you must have an entire stash of patriotic fabric. I haven't gone back to count but have you used any of them twice?

janRN 02-23-2012 05:32 AM

Great blocks, dublb. Yipes-you all are so brave to work with stripes-just beautiful. I love your flags & heart block-fits with your over all design plan and it's gorgeos.
Anael-such a pretty block, soft but sticking with the PonyClub theme. Well done.
Jeanie eagerly awaiting your "reworked" block LOL.

Let us hope I can post Clover blossom and Colt's corral...the colt is a young male pony and a filly is a mare pony. We were lucky enough to enjoy both in our youth. Even built a corral to keep the ponies handy. After both pony mares had young, we played a game with them; the youngsters would get interested in whatever, and we would quietly ride the mares away from the foals, waiting around a corner of a building, and watch as the foals would suddenly "discover" Mom was missing and come looking for us. Moms were into the game of hide-and-go-seek as well. Skybaby was 17 inches tall and 21 inches long at birth. Granddad's Mother, Sarah Whicker, said "I want all my great-great-great-great-grandkids to know when I was 86 years young, I could hold a horse in my arms!!"...as she held Skybaby in her arms. Alas, both her and granddad have long passed away, but the memories still linger in my mind.

janRN 02-23-2012 08:50 AM

Arte & QNS, beautiful blocks. You both nailed the PC theme. Love the wood grain in the blocks; really adds something special. These blocks are so much fun to look at. Honchey's right: great eye candy!

Anael 02-23-2012 09:06 AM

Arte and NinaSue, beautiful blocks! I like the Colt's Corral blocks but not in my quilt, I don't see how I can fit this block in.
