Both of your blocks look great . What a good way to start my Wednesday along with my morning coffee.

janRN 07-18-2012 04:28 AM

Beautiful blocks, ladies. Great fussy cutting in both. I love the different interpretations.

Will post later---I'm going on a FART today YAY!!!!! My quilting friend's mother is also in a nursing home so it's great when we both get a "day off" together. Really don't need anything so I'll prob just look (yeah right LOL).

carriem 07-18-2012 04:47 AM

Honchey and Anael: I agree you both did a great job with these blocks...especially with the fussy cutting.

Can't wait to see what others have done. :)

Oh my yes, I agree totally!

I'm still plodding along on these blocks. We are still visiting our friends, so don't get much done! I think we are heading home next Monday! So cold up here in WA, we will be glad to get back to sunny CA. I did not bring enough warm weather clothes.
:p

OOOhhhhhhh PRETTY :D

oksewglad 07-18-2012 02:24 PM

Perfect Sheriff's Star Honchey--and great placement in the block.
Anael--Horses are so nicely centered in your block
grannyQ-love the swirly fabric in your MDaughter block and some darker blues showing up to give great contrast to the quilt. Way to go ladies. Check the discussion thread to see what GD and I have been up to.

Here are mine for the week. I was having a stinky day when I made Miller's Daughter (just kidding) and I did not do Mountain Maze (no y-seams for this cowpoke). I substitued a block from QuiltersCache called Twisted Spools but it came out too small. I followed your suggestion and put a frame around it.

carriem 07-18-2012 05:10 PM

Granny-Q: Two more pretty blue blocks :)

Jan: Cute skunks (Ok I have to ask myself are skunks cute?) and once again fun quilting around them. The spool fabric is a great choice for your "spool" block

oksewglad 07-18-2012 05:32 PM

Just delightful, Jan! The framing on Twisted Spools looks like it belongs there! I won't tell you about the time our then 10 yo son thought he saw a kitty by the maple tree as he was walking up to the house from the barn one fall evening. Yikes--kitty it was not!

QuiltingNinaSue 07-18-2012 06:24 PM

Great Blocks, Jan RN, and others too. JanRN, I wanted a picture of your FART trip finds you brought home....surely you did purchase something that caught your eye.....

Mine are a work-in-progess to be posted soon.

deranged_damsel 07-18-2012 06:39 PM

SO all of y'all with novelty prints...... is anyone doing Mountain Maze... with a Corn print fabric??? :D

mirabelle 07-18-2012 09:04 PM

Wow what beautiful blocks everyone has made, I think the skunks are cute also. No blocks from me this week, just can't seem to get my butt into gear at the moment:mad:
will try and get to my machine on the weekend

Latrinka 07-19-2012 11:57 AM

Beautiful blocks!

dublb 07-19-2012 02:51 PM

Such beautiful blocks! I love all o' the fussy cuttin' & beautiful contrast! I wonder if I'll ever git caught up. :p I quilted on my niece's quilt yesterday & got about 1/3 of the way done. Ta day I helped my DSister ta pack up her boyfriend's stuff & put it in his car. We then had her locks re-keyed. She found out that he was cheatin' on her. I'm emotionally drained.

QuiltingNinaSue 07-19-2012 06:31 PM

dd, never thought about corn fabric but I have lots of variety...of corn fabric...if you want nickel samples leave private message with address and I will mail you some....QNS

gardnergal970 07-20-2012 04:20 AM

Dubib...your sister is strong to throw him out and change the locks. Good of you to help her. Take care of yourself and do what it takes to get recharged.

dublb 07-20-2012 03:48 PM

Ya'll are always there for me. Thanks so much.:)

HilaryK8 07-20-2012 07:40 PM

Beautiful blocks!!!

QuiltE 07-22-2012 04:39 PM

Honchey ... I like your fabric ... kind of looks like a modern cowboy!

Anael
... what a terrific block ... the colours and the FC horses! Amazing!

GrannnyQ ... as always the blues, just seem to bring this calming peace

JanRN ... right!! Sure, just looking ... and I haven't seen your results reported yet!! I'll join with the others and say your skunks are indeed cute .... I didn't think I'd ever say that!!! Looks like you have all that thread "twisted" into a real mess.

DDamsel ... somehow I just can't see corn fabric in your quilt!

JeanieG ... perfect reason to go shopping!!!

Managed to get my blocks made on the weekend, did not enjoy Mountain Maze but I was determined to get it made. It looks a little wonky but its not

Mosey on over to the Discussion Page and see whats available for morning tea in our virtual RV:D

QuiltE 07-22-2012 05:01 PM

MiraB ... as always .... beeeeeeeeeeeauuuuuuutiful!

carriem 07-22-2012 06:44 PM

Mirabelle--very pretty blocks...great fussy cutting. I like the little sprigs of flowers you got on the middle squares of MM.

oksewglad 07-23-2012 06:32 AM

2 very pretty blocks, Mbelle. The second block reminds me of the Double T block--so is yours a "T" rose?

gardnergal970 07-23-2012 08:37 AM

Mirabelle...I see you got a little motivation and shifted out of the dumps. Your blocks are gorgeous as usual. Have you been able to get the table moved so your sewing space is complete?

mirabelle 07-23-2012 02:33 PM

GGal970 yes the table was moved, will take photos later today, I really don't do well with chaos around me. DH goes back to work tomorrow so a week on my own yay!!

Nice to have him home ... then to see him go ... and then so nice when he returns!
I'm sure you'll ENJOY your sewing time in you new room while he's gone this week!

dublb 07-24-2012 04:24 PM

QuiltingNinaSue 07-25-2012 05:16 AM

Ok try this again...fingers crossed...Miller's daughter, "American Made"...
Mountain Maze...means "Snow Maze" count the different snow people that are all different!!

Honchey 07-25-2012 07:23 AM

QNS, I just love the novelty fabrics you use... Mirabelle, your quilt is going to be downright beautiful..I love the visual softness of your fabric...H.

dublb 07-25-2012 09:16 AM

How cute! These are darlin'!

QNSue...you are one dedicated woman to continue to conquer the y seams. You are inspiring but at this point I've sworn off all y seams going forward. I substituted Flower Girl for Mountain Maze.

OKsewglad...recognize the posies?

QuiltingNinaSue 07-26-2012 05:12 AM

Thanks , Gg; love your sub, would like to tackle that pattern someday, and regular block. Funny thing, on days when I can nail the Y seam, I love it...go figure. Its the group encouragement that keeps me going...if I were doing it on my own...I would never finish. Guess we made it to 60 blocks, 90 blocks is not that far off anymore.

carriem 07-26-2012 05:34 AM

QNS and GGal--both of you have 2 beautiful blocks. :) Keep up the great work!!

dublb 07-26-2012 07:49 AM

Oh GG your blocks are lovely! I really like your sub! It fits right in.

Honchey 07-26-2012 08:07 AM

GG, I love the flower block!!! It's so pretty!.

oksewglad 07-26-2012 06:16 PM

Fantastic, QNS!

GGal oh that blue really adds a rich color to your already lovely blocks! The outside seam allowance on the first block really distorts the overall look of it, doesn't it. Can't wait to see it sashed so those white flowers really stand out.
