You're welcome carriem :D

No, QuiltE, I'm still not sorry ;) I like the border ideas oksewglad has designed, only problem is I added the first border already! I will do the math later today (it's 2 am here!) and will try and get some sleep now
Thanks oksewglad!!

QuiltE 07-09-2012 06:56 PM

Yes Anael ... it's about time you go to bed!
My eyes are closing and it's only eleven.

With some sleep
, OKSGlad, will probably design it again for you. Leave her the measurements of the white border .... I know she likes "playing" with that EQ program!

The white borders are 2" unfinished. I remember I once made flying geese to lengthen a quilt. It's one of my UFO's, still to be quilted :( but here's the picture:

dublb 07-09-2012 09:45 PM

Ohhhhh! That's purdy!!!!

Anael 07-09-2012 10:19 PM

It was last year's BOM on the HGTV board, called Hole in the Barndoor. It was fun making the blocks!

So I've made 4 borderblocks, have a look. I have 2 options I like.

Anael...your creating so much enthusiasm with your PC project. Your Hole in the Barn Door quilt it beautiful and I really like the pyramid border that you did. I have a couple of projects ready to sew together but maybe I should have OkSewGlad do her EQ magic before I start. That seems to be a pretty cool tool!

carriem 07-10-2012 05:21 AM

Anael---did you get any sleep?? :) I really like your BOTM UFO...I might have to see if that pattern is still available...I really like a couple of those blocks!

Anael 07-10-2012 06:35 AM

Carriem, I think you still can get the directions on HGTV board, you have to register and go to crafts, quilting & Needlework and ask there. You can design your own, it's a 12" finished churn dash block with a 6" finished block in the middle.

Gardnergal, maybe we should hire oksewglad as our quilt designer?

oksewglad 07-10-2012 07:11 AM

Oh you make me blush, Anael! I like the option with the white triangle up against the blue squares--to me it "Crowns" the quilt. it draws attention to the blocks by pulling the eye away from the blues.
The FG border on the Churn dash quilt is fantastic. Carrie can't you just see this quilt in the KT or Jo Morton color palettes? HMM let me go to EQ and see what happens...
GGal, what do you have started that needs a finish? (As if OKSG doesn't have any UFO's of her own!!)

Anael 07-10-2012 07:33 AM

That's the option I like best too oksewglad :D

QuiltE 07-10-2012 07:48 AM

Oooooooooh!! Anael ... beautiful! Your HITBD/CD is ever so nice! An interesting way to frame up finished blocks. Are you going to keep it? Or is it destined for the Day Care Centre too?

The colours look so much nicer in today's photos!! ITA on the white against the quilt centre. Helps frame and creates a step into what's next. Which brings me to ask ... what will you do after those are all on? Regular strip borders?

Anael 07-10-2012 08:21 AM

Thanks for the compliments on the Barn Door :D I don't know, I thought about donating the HITBD quilt to the day care centre too, I have to ask how many they can use. My kids don't want quilts, that's for sure :(

The colours in the last 2 pictures are the real colors. I think I will do a regular strip border in the darker blue fabric.

JeanieG 07-10-2012 08:34 AM

Oh Anael, that BOM quilt is stunning! Great colors and I can hardly wait to see what you do with the quiliting. I love the nap quilts you are working on too. You are sure moving along fast on those. I'm sure the recipients will dearly love them.

QuiltE 07-10-2012 08:34 AM

Anael, You're a generous soul!! I'm sure all will be more than thankful for your kindnesses.

I'm sure they will gladly accept all that you wish to share with them. Because they are destined for a public facility, chances are they are laundered perhaps more regularly than we would at home. Plus institutional laundry does not get the gentler care we do. Thus, they will show their wear much faster and need replacing more often.

Although, this might create some jealousy as to who gets the "pretty ones" ... instead of the boring browns!!!
You'll have your work cut out for you!!

I was sitting here this morning sketching out a CD pattern, before I saw the HITBD/CD .... and smiled!!!

Yes
OKSGlad ... email on its way with a request! :)

dublb 07-10-2012 09:36 AM

OK - what have ya got yourself into????
Anael - Your heart is in the right place. I love the border in the first pict.

Oh, oh, oh! I just got the call from my apprentice's DM. She is in labor & will have the baby taday!!!!!!!! I feel like it's another Grandbaby!!!

Anael 07-10-2012 09:57 AM

ThanksJeanie, QuiltE and dublb (and all my other friends) :)

I could ask to give the quilts to me to wash them. I think the elderly only use them as covers after lunch so I hope they won't get dirty that fast! I will do the borders tomorrow.

Dublb, I hope everything is ok with your apprentice and your adopted grandbaby :D

I have a mystery quilt ready to sash as well as the BOM that I'm doing through QB. I was concerned that I would not come out with a good balance so while it was in the design wall, I completed all of the blocks and did run out of the main fabric like I was afraid of so I made do. The reveal isn't until after Christmas so there is no hurry actually with either one. I have the FWS to complete while I trot along in this pony ride and I'm planning to start an appliqué project so I have handwork to do in the evenings. Can you tell I'm totally immersed in quilting? My DH is occupied during the day so my sewing room is where I hang out after the essential housekeeping is done.

dublb 07-10-2012 05:08 PM

GG ya sound as behind as I am. Lots o' things ta do! :) It keeps us from bein' bored.

Apprentice's baby was born. All the text said was..." 29" 7lbs 15oz." I'm gonna call 'em in th'mornin'. We already knew that it was a boy. It's drivin' me crazy that they are in Austin! 8 hours away!

dublb 07-10-2012 06:55 PM

I finished a quilttop with scrapblocks I made a few weeks ago. I wasn't too sure about the border but now it's on I like it. The binding will be the same as the inner small red border. What do you think?
When you look closely you can see a tiny house in one of the blocks :D

carriem 07-16-2012 03:24 AM

Anael--what a bright, cheerful quilt! The yellow border adds to the fun. :) Great job!!

Anael 07-16-2012 03:49 AM

Thank you carriem :D

I forgot to mention this quilt is going to the day care centre as well.

QuiltingNinaSue 07-16-2012 04:30 AM

Great job, love the bright colors. You did a very good job on the colors!!

Anael 07-16-2012 05:14 AM

Thank you QNS, I wasn't so sure myself.

Looks wonderful, Anael and the red binding will put a nice finish to it.

This is what I got accomplished yesterday. Now to get them quilted and bound. OBTW first crumb squares are 1.5" finished. Second string blocks are 2" finished.

Anael 07-16-2012 06:46 AM

Thanks oksewglad! Great accomplishment those 2 quilts ! And such tiny pieces! My scrapblocks were 4.5" finished, sewed 4 of them together to make one large block.

JeanieG 07-16-2012 08:40 AM

Anael and oksewglad - thanks for sharing your lovely quilts. Anael, those people at the day care are so fortunate to have you making all these beautiful quilts for their nap time. Oksewglad - I'm afraid I would not have the patience for those tiny quilt blocks. They are great!

oksewglad 07-16-2012 09:56 AM

Oh thanks:) I get in an "I don't know what to sew mood" and go to my teeny scrap bins and start mindlessly sewing so I have several small blocks ready to make into a quick small quilt. The navy one was not quick--I had initially set it with navy and gold 4P's, but it was way too busy. And because I spent a lot of time on the crumb blocks I decided to "rip it rip it" and replace with the plain block and yes I am happier with it. Believe it or not this is a stress reliever for me to off set the frustrations I still have with PP'ing.

dublb 07-16-2012 05:27 PM

Anael & OK ya'll are great! Those are beautiful!
Anael - Your's is so bright & cheery, perfect for kids! (I did find the tiny house.:))
OK - Such tiny pieces. I'm always impressed w/your mini's! Just purdy!

QuiltE 07-16-2012 07:52 PM

Anael .. that is absolutely splendid! The white and bright yellow/gold is very effective with the crumb blocks. Well Done!!

OKSGlad ... another pair of great minis! I was thinking today, I wonder what happened with those little blocks that OK showed us recently, and then tonight here they are! The food bank should fare well with them in their auction!

What a nice trip down memory lane to see everyone's blocks again.
As well as Anael's quilts for the Day Centre and OKs minis!

I struggled choosing the fabrics for these last night.
As I worked on them, I almost scrapped them, to start again.
Now tonight, I'm liking them ... go figure! :D

oksewglad 01-24-2013 04:32 PM

Oh those look so nice! The yellow/tan draws you in and then the blue takes you to the sashing. Blue and yellow is one of my fav color combos too.

dublb 01-24-2013 04:47 PM

Oooo those are just great! I like your colors. When ya are through w/the quilt these blocks will draw the eye & then be nice & restful. I'm not sure I'm makin' since but that is my thought process when lookin' at 'em. :)

janRN 01-24-2013 06:07 PM

Another great job, QE. Looks like the ponies are ready to run down the road, very dimensional. I love, love that red fabric behind your blocks!

carriem 01-24-2013 06:21 PM

QE--I agree with the others that these are a couple of great blocks! Keep it up! I did like you did with your FW quilt...chose fabrics for several blocks at a time, then I even cut several so then I could just sew!

JeanieG 01-24-2013 06:28 PM

Oh such fun to see these blocks again! Mine are still waiting in the two drawers (one for my pony fabric PC blocks, one for the "other" fabric PC blocks). Gotta finish the Easy Street quilt and get that together before I get back to the PC blocks. Don't want to box up another set of blocks! I'll get there one of these days!
