It must be the heat !! 1st time I got bumped off...2nd time it went thru but couldn't post my photo. This is the 3rd time...I hope they all don't show up :P

I had an easy time doing 90..I'm redoing a section of 89...a little triangle just won't cooperate.

Aha ... success! Neat block 90, Anne; good luck on 89. I get quite frustrated when the block parts won't cooperate. The higher my level of frustration, the harder it is to get the parts to do right.

Here are photos of my 89 & 90.

I think Quiltingninasue's blocks are rubbing off on me :-) . I happened to open a tote and saw the rain drop fabric that would be perfect for the "Storm" block.

Beautiful blocks ladies!! You're right about QNS-I picked fabric that looked like storm clouds.
(My batting is cut large because I'm doing QAYG so blocks look wonky)

Hey, I do not mind if they tend to look like my material; flatterly will get you to higher levels!! Wish mine were as straight as yours, Anne.

Steps to the altar has stars in it because young lovers (regardless of age) always have stars in their eyes. Storm signal has anchors away in it...

QuiltingNinaSue 06-08-2011 03:41 PM

Sorry, Anne, its JanRN that has the rain drops in it; love it in the blocks. Our roses are in bloom everywhere, so I am showing some of them off on line here.

Love all the blocks. Anne I like your bright red-when I look at my blocks that's still the color I don't seem to have enough of in my quilt-to-be (or large stack of potholders LOL). Everyone's colors are so nice and your points are so sharp! Love 'em!

Here are my two blocks for the week.

Murphy1 06-09-2011 03:22 PM

Wow I am so inspired. I just received my book in the mail and am participating in a quilt along for this book. Seeing all the completed blocks just motivates me more. Did anyone have a system for deciding the fabric they used to do the blocks?

Welcome, Murphy1! My fabric choosing system was to use up lots of the wide variety of small pieces of fabric in my stash. Of course, as time went along, I had to eventually include just about every quilting fabric I own.

Beautiful blocks ladies! Today was my first full day back in my sewing room since my DH died May 6th. My Mom just headed back home to Iowa last night, and S21 headed off to Colorado for a week w/a friend. So it will be me, myself, & I (along w/my S24 in the evenings after he gets off work) for the next week. Have a pile of donation quilts piled under Lizzie, and my 1st - 3 paying quilts ready to be quilted - so worked on Ms.Lizzie machine quilting today. My FW book is out and I'll get back to cutting templates and selecting fabrics from where I left off back in the beginning of May soon. Most definitely lost the last month with this unexpected turn in my life... But at least it feels different and better than numb to get back to something I enjoy and at least feeling somewhat productive while putting off the inevitable sifting and sorting process ahead.

janRN 06-09-2011 06:25 PM

Glad to see you back auntjo. Hope sewing brings you some distraction and some peace. We've missed you. Looks like you've got a lot of sewing to do. Enjoy your quiet time and when you need a break, come here.
Peace-Jan

Evie 06-09-2011 06:28 PM

AuntJo, glad to have you back. I know what you are going through. Today is the 10th anniversary of my DH's death and I still miss him. It does get better. Hugs!

weezie 06-09-2011 06:37 PM

Hi, auntjo. It's so good to hear from you and to have you back with us.

Welcome Murphy 1--this has been the greatest journey. I hope you have half the fun I've had and learn as much as I have doing this project. The best advice: enjoy the ride!! Ask any questions of any of us-these ladies got me through some tough blocks!

Hi, Murphy1 -- welcome, and thank you. Yes, I've been using the red, black and cream Garibaldi prints from Windham and Blue Hill. Kind of limited, but I think it'll be OK once I find the right color for the sashing. I'm still searching! :D

Auntjo - so sorry to hear about your DH. So glad you are getting back into the swing of things and know that your quilting will be a great stress reliever for you.

Here you go ........
Steps to the Altar was from June ... I didn't really get the contrast right between the green and the darker mauve print. The green is very washed here in the pic, and has a lot more "life" IRL

Storm Signal ... another one to blend with the butterfly and the gold/browns. Just have a little of that print and wish I had more.

oksewglad 10-24-2011 08:09 PM

I find it interesting how fabric changes (values/scale) when pieces are cut smaller. Another set of pretty blocks, QuiltE. Won't cut any out tonight, time for a goodnight! G

Thanks!
I think this will be one of the benefits for me, in doing this sampler ... developing a better predictability of how fabrics will look together. colours, value, scale, etc. I am so not good at that at all. What might work? and not work? At least I hope so .... and for me, it's good night too!

JeanieG 10-24-2011 08:30 PM

Just beautiful QuiltE, great job!
