QNS--I just love your farm blocks. I used to vacation during the summer on a farm when I was a young child. There was a pump in the kitchen for water and a well outside. No bathroom in the house either!! I remember it now fondly--didn't like it then. Anne

Great blocks, ladies. You all did so well--I had trouble with 65-spatial relations problem. I couldn't "see" this one (if that makes sense). You all continue to amaze and impress me.

Blocks 65 & 66

I used fabric that "blends" rather than contrasts for #65-I could not get those points right!

very nice job ladies

looking good ladies :D the talent here is amazing, it sure is a treat to see these blocks every week :D

Honchey 03-16-2011 08:44 AM

Hi Ladies, I also had problems with the points on the inside. What I did was to pin the points together then every 1/2", put the sewing machine needle down into the point and then sewed from the middle of the block(where the point was) to the edge of the block. I then turned the block around and sewed from the middle out to the other side --removing the pins as you sew.

Hi Ladies
Managed to get my blocks done on time this week. I also had a few problems with #65 but I am not going to redo it.

I was supposed to go to patchwork today but the highway is closed AGAIN due to flooding. This is the fifth closure since Christmas. We have had 42 inches of rain so far for March and it is only the 17th. I am so over it
:-(

I think I will hide out in my sewing room today

yes Anne, I am. I think thats the reason why I havent had to much trouble making my points match. its soooo much easier when you can FEEL the points.

Hi DD, I was taught to handpiece first before anything else in quilting. I really enjoyed it. I have a hard time sewing in a straight line. I have to mark everything when handpiecing and I just don't have the patience or the eyesight when doing it now. I might try a few blocks again just for the heck of it.

Lots of beautiful blocks

Nanjun 03-17-2011 03:57 PM

All the blocks are so pretty. Guess I have put mine on the back burner for a while.

Has anyone completed their quilt yet? Would love to see pictures of completed quilts or sashing used and fabric used for cornerstones and side triangles and backing.

Back from the G'kids. Here's mine for this week. I found my fabric for the sashing & have been cutting it this week, now to get it attached to these first 66 blocks...

Very pretty Auntjo-I love that burgandy fabric with the roses. What color sashing have you decided on? I've narrowed my choices to 3: brown, burgandy, and dark tourquoise (sp). I hope to make my final choice this week so I can start cutting and sewing them on, too.
Love everyones' blocks-I thought these were difficult but everyone did a beautiful job.

Here's a close-up of my sashing I've been working on this weekend w/the queen sized layout from the book. :)

I really, really like that!! The brown makes all your colors pop. Great choice. Thank you so much for posting the pic-it helps to see someone else's blocks. I love the subtle print in the brown. Thank you for taking the time to answer so many questions!

Jeannie I love your blocks. That aqua with the butterfly block is one of my favorites of yours.

Kooklabell 03-21-2011 07:47 AM

Everyone's blocks are so beautiful! These blocks look soooo complicated - funny week to have available to participate again. Perhaps its time to try paper piecing. After all, what do I have to lose but a few scraps of material :) Sure do miss everyone!
