This is a picture of my finished Farm House FEB. block for 2011. It's not exactly perfect, but I had lots of fun making. I even added a litt bit of embroidery embellishments. Hope you like it!!

oh cute - looks like your little pup is checking out the plane buzzing overhead. Now what are you going to do for the next 27 days while we are sweating over our construction sites????

It's a good thing school was called off today because this took me ALL day to paper piece. At least, I was able to find all the fabric I needed in my stash---even the window flower boxes! And now I'm ready for the February star block to come out! Yay! :D

Sheila Elaine 02-01-2011 05:14 PM

This is quite cute & creative Sula Bug. Did you make your own pattern? I think every Farmhouse should have a huge porch like yours. Cudos to you, again.

pab58 02-01-2011 05:14 PM

Mathteacher, I love your farmhouse!! Those flower boxes in the windows are just the perfect touch!!!

My school canceled for tomorrow so I am going to try to build my house on my day off.

littlehud 02-01-2011 05:27 PM

That is darling. Great job and thanks for sharing.

mmonohon 02-01-2011 05:34 PM

I have the pattern printed and colored and all measurements taken, now onto the cutting part, then sew.

PKWard 02-01-2011 05:35 PM

They're both so cute! It helps to see them made up. I'm going to go get my fabric tomorrow!

MISHNJIM 02-01-2011 06:38 PM

Nice job ladies!!!! I don't know when I'm gonna get to mine, I have other things on my plate right now. Maybe this weekend but it will be in the month of Feb.

craftiladi 02-01-2011 07:54 PM

Both farmhouses are so darn cute and gosh you girls are quick. I think the problem I am having w/ this whole PP thing is I have to see it in progress, as I am just not getting it...see my sad face, as I really wanted to play along.

It is a little intimidating at first (and sometimes second). I always have to say to myself "wrong side of fabric to wrong side of pattern". And also if you fold on the lines before you sew, they will tear easier. And here is a few tutorials that might help if you see it being done:

http://blog.sewhooked.org/2008/10/28...-step-by-step/

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8uaW2...re=uploademail (this is a real nice one)

http://www.google.com/search?q=youtu...=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-SearchBox&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=ie7&rlz=1I7GGIE_en ( lots to choose from)

I hope these will help you. After you get started on a piece, it gets a little more clear as you go. ;-)

:)

luvmortherest 02-01-2011 08:36 PM

beautiful

annette1952 02-01-2011 09:25 PM

Both of your blocks are really nice. I might get started on mine tomorrow but not sure because I have my granddaughter tonight & tomorrow. She wants me to make her pj bottoms. There was a tip on Fons & Porter for taking the paper off the blocks. They said to run a tracing wheel along the seam & it helps to perforate it better. Also from past experiences you might want to leave the paper on until you have sewn all of your blocks together. Helps to keep it from stretching & distortion. Have fun with the block!

roseOfsharon 02-01-2011 09:28 PM

Wow! Both the blocks are just wonderful! I will have to get cracking on mine sooooooon, cuz I just know I will have a time with all the wee pieces! And soooooooo many pieces too :) But I am looking forward to laying the colors of fabrics out and deciding what to use ... and other things :)
