Patti ask me to post the kites for week 58. I used pink for all of mine because it's a favorite color of mine.

TRC isn't bad. Just start in the middle and work your way to the outside.
BRC is easy too, just more melons and a star. I left room to sign and date it.

Week 58.

wilhelmina 01-09-2011 09:30 PM

Lovely Jan - Did you applique your stars?

sandpat 01-10-2011 05:43 AM

Jan, they are lovely! I've done the star one...I'll post a pic soon (I haven't taken it yet) Thanks so much for posting! These are such crisp nice corners for your quilt!

Butterflyspain 01-10-2011 08:23 AM

Ooooh these are so pretty Jan, lovely job.

Elle

Janstar 01-10-2011 07:19 PM

Thanks guys and yes Meredith, I appliqued the stars. I got called to work today so no time to sew on my last two kites, darn it anyway. I do them in my mind but not much gets done that way!

sandpat 01-11-2011 05:47 AM

Oh, but don't you wish it did?? My quilt would already be finished!

Butterflyspain 01-11-2011 05:49 AM

At this moment in time I wish I could wiggle my nose and magic my Jane finished. :D

Janstar 01-13-2011 07:51 PM

Had to work again but had the afternoon to finish BLC. There are 71 pieces in it! I won't show pics till I finish the last kite, TLC.

sandpat 01-14-2011 06:00 AM

Awww geesh! Thats more than TRC! I think mine finished up with 66 pieces! I can't wait to see yours. Its next on my list.

Butterflyspain 01-14-2011 06:10 AM

Thats an awful lot of pieces, WOW am I glad I decided to something different.

Nearing the end now, go for it, looking forward to seeing it

I'm finally posting the pic of the one that I have done- TRC

I printed the entire block, extended some lines on the drawing and then pp'd the whole thing, including the little star at the point. It might have been easier to applique it though.

I still have to do BRC but am delaying as I think I'm going to embroider the piece count info on one of the melons and want to be sure on the final # before I embroider anything. It should be a really easy one though...we should all be experts at working with those melons by now!

Janstar 01-16-2011 05:36 PM

Another good one Patti! I still have to go through and get the piece count on mine.

sandpat 01-16-2011 05:52 PM

Did you at least keep up with them as you were going? I had all mine put on the spreadsheet yesterday, then the cat walked over the top of my keyboard....why oh why can they always hit the delete key when they do that?????

Janstar 01-16-2011 06:23 PM

I started to and then sort of let it slide____________! Now I'll pay for that little lapse!

Jan, love your pinks!!!

Patti, your chocolate kite is yummy!!!

Here is my Week 58 ...
I am going to dedicate my quilt to my hubby, this year is 25 years for us. I am going to add the total piece count and the dedication later to the BRC Sarah Jane kite, with hand embroidery by my daughter.

The smaller stars on both kites, are reverse applique...:)

Butterflyspain 01-17-2011 01:31 AM

Patti, Your TRC is wonderful, you certainly have a way with those colours.

Meredith yours are wonderful too I love them all.

Well I havenīt counted the pieces in mine at all, but will be way lower than any of you ladies because I only did somekites and as I am not putting it my quilt they wonīt count so will have to go right through the lot and add them up from the beginning :? :-(

sandpat 01-17-2011 06:06 AM

Meredith...those are gorgeous!!!! I haven't done much reverse applique, but I gotta tell you girl, yours looks fantastic!!

Jan and Elle...you'll just have a little counting to do...it won't take too long.

Janstar 01-17-2011 06:57 PM

Gorgeous Meredith!!

luvmortherest 01-17-2011 06:59 PM

they are all gorgeous

OK...finally...finally...finally I did the last kite. I copied Lesley by putting the "label" info on the petals, then I flipped through this thread again and thought...man...I should have done the bottom star like Meredith (I love yours!)

Anyway, its done now and here she is...

A question for you who have put yours together though...did you attach the kite to the border prior to sewing the the borders to the quilt or after????

Final kite BRC

Butterflyspain 01-21-2011 06:20 AM

gorgeous Patti, I love your Kite, so profesional what else can I expect from you

wilhelmina 01-21-2011 08:05 AM

Patti, LOVE IT!!! You are so close to the finish, yay!!

sandpat 01-21-2011 04:12 PM

Thanks! I got all the trapunto padding sewn today, tonight I'll trim the excess and start sewing the regular W & N batting pieces to the back. I'm thinking about doing the "normal" quilting on the trapunto tris after I get the back put on. Since it is just the border, it wouldn't be hard to do it on the machine (which is how I intent to do the quilting on these anyway). Whadda ya'll think?

Butterflyspain 01-21-2011 11:46 PM

sounds like a plan to me Patti. As you say the border wouldnīt be hard to do on the machine, I say go for it Ekke

sandpat 01-22-2011 05:17 AM

Yup...yup...thats the plan Elle. I'll work towards that today.:D:

Janstar 01-24-2011 11:16 PM

Your kite looks very nice Patti! Your getting so close to the end. I haven't been on here for several days because Iv'e been hand sewing. Quite addicting isn't it?

Butterflyspain 01-25-2011 05:29 AM

Patti, can we have a picture of your trapunto please. sounds delish

Here ya' go Elle....this is all the way around the border

Yes Jan...I got very addicted to doing them. Its so easy to tuck a couple in a baggie along with some threaded needles and work on them anywhere too!

Butterflyspain 01-26-2011 04:06 AM

Wow, I eventually caught up with you again. You see I am not getting any notifications for any thread so I am a bit lost in the Board at the moment.

Just about to finish my last 3 for row 7. However unlike you Patti, I have no work, its one of the bonuses of being retired, so I take my hat off to you for getting this done, your Trapunto is wonderful.

Elle

sandpat 01-26-2011 05:29 AM

Elle...you are MORE than halfway through the center section! Yippee!!

Butterflyspain 01-26-2011 05:36 AM

Yippee, yes just finished quilting the 13 blocks for Row 7, just going to put them all together in a line. :-D

sandpat 01-26-2011 06:37 AM

Wooo Hoooooo!!

Butterflyspain 01-26-2011 07:07 AM

Canīt straighten up Patti, been bent over sewing for tooooooo long. so having a walk around to get straight again. Just going to pop up to the room and get Row 8 off the bed to start quilting I am smokin................he he

sandpat 01-26-2011 05:37 PM

Keep sewing those rows on the wrong way and I'll think you might really be "smokin"....just what you are smokin...I'm not sure!! I think I had a nip or 2 of it though when I did my tri borders!

You GO GIRL...are you sleeping???

Butterflyspain 01-27-2011 01:07 AM

Yes sleeping not too bad thanks. Obviously not smokin the right stuff Patti LOL

Janstar 01-27-2011 05:31 PM

Way to go Elle!!

I have really been enjoying your Dear Jane posts and pictures...they are beautiful ..I just started one and i have about 7 done...lol...
I just wanted to mention that if you are using the software, it tells you the piece count for each block...

QuiltswithConvicts 02-06-2011 05:01 PM

Hi, Tella. Welcome to our group.

I didn't use the software, but hand pieced my JJ. In a lot of places, some of us re-drew the block to make the piecing order make more sense. I sewed in lots of pieces that Brenda has us appliqueing. I also appliqued a few pieces that she had is sew-in. So, the count can become different. Also some of the gals devised a way to paper piece a block that wasn't set up for paper piecing, so there are more pieces there, too. It will be fun when we all have our final tallys and compare.
