Here are week 13's blocks. The triangle has two inset seams in it, but no worse than some of the others in previous weeks.

Ooops - wrong pic, this one is for week 15, sorry.

Very pretty...are those for 15 or 13?? I'm confused.

LindaR 03-28-2010 08:25 AM

great job on the points, perfect

Esqmommy 03-28-2010 09:15 AM

This looks like the week from hell...are they hard??

Lacelady 03-28-2010 10:48 AM

Very sorry for the confusion - I would have deleted the wrong pic if I could. The thread is for week 13, and the SECOND pic is the correct one for this week. Please ignore the first pic for now, and I will repost it when the time comes.

I didn't find M3 all that easy, and in the end, I opted for appliqueing all the central area onto a square of background that I stitched with diagonal seams beforehand.

L 10 was time consuming, and you can see that I did the two vertical borders with extra seams in them, to make those little triangles easier to make. It was either do it this way, or applique them on - still not sure which is /might be best.

So all in all, not the easiest of weeks but in effect, seeing as the following week is a week off, you have two weeks to get these done, don't you?

Esqmommy 03-28-2010 01:54 PM

I suppose, but I really wanted to get ahead if I could so I can work on fun things too - I need to do some quick quilts to satisfy my urge to get one done, that I get to keep!!! I'm gonna try, but L10 and M3 do not look fun to me. Neither does the triangle.

Shemjo 03-28-2010 05:39 PM

Your blocks are beautiful. I am ready to try these!

Esqmommy 03-28-2010 06:01 PM

I don't even want to start this week, it just looks so hard and I just know my blocks are going to be a joke, once again. Anyone have any tips on how to put together the difficult ones? Any volunteers to make mine? I'll send you the fabric :)

Esqmommy 03-28-2010 06:02 PM

By the way, we're inching on to the drawing time. Finish thru Week 13 and you will get entered in the drawing!! Be sure to send me your name once you've posted thru Week 13, okay? I know Lesley is there - anybody else?

BC - your blocks look awesome!!

sandpat 03-29-2010 07:54 AM

OMGosh!!!! Lesley and bc...your blocks are outstanding and on such a hard week! bc...I LOVE what you did with M3!

sandpat 03-29-2010 08:07 AM

Rachel....I just printed out the variations for L10 and M3...lots of pieces, but looks doable...try looking at those.

Lacelady 03-29-2010 08:23 AM

Love your colourways, BC, especially M3

sandpat 03-30-2010 04:46 AM

I worked on M3 last night and I'm almost finished...just need to add 3 more of the outside sections. There are a couple of things I learned (besides the fact that I'm sewing waaaayyy over my head)

1. ...I think I FINALLY got the Y seam secret down pat...at least for me....on the first seam, I started stopping about 1/4" BEFORE I get to the inside point of the "Y". Then I position the second seam by folding, rearranging, refolding, and holding my mouth just right until it is 'flat', then I sew that seam, then refold and arrange the first seam again and finish sewing that 1/4" that I left. This works for me...it may not work for anyone else.

2. I have a ton of bulk with all the seams. I removed the paper to try to help it, but I probably should have ironed the seams open...is that what you guys did??

Great stuff, Patti, whatever works for you. I iron as many as I can open - sometimes they just don't want to go that way, so then I give in and iron them to one side.

Mamaskeeto 03-30-2010 08:39 AM

I haven't started yet but love what has been posted so far.

Shemjo 03-30-2010 09:17 AM

Caught up from the camera loan at last, phew, it was a mistake to leave it so long.

Shemjo 03-30-2010 12:45 PM

Pretty blocks, Sara.
I am just a little confused, though. Which blocks are we working on for week 13?

They look like week 13 blocks, i.e. BR 7 etc., but that she has labeled them for the previous week. Just the same as I put the wrong label on my pic at the beginning of this thread.

Well done, Patti, when do we get to see this famous block? BTW, tell DH he can hang up - if you have to go to the funny farm, then we should all go with you, because we are all doing the same quilt, right?

Esqmommy 03-30-2010 01:40 PM

Okay, how many are done with Week 13!!I need to add you to my list for the drawing!

Me, me, me *waving hand in the air*.

Shemjo 03-30-2010 02:24 PM

I think I am working on the right blocks, but not done yet!

sandpat 03-30-2010 03:31 PM

Oh I'm not done yet....and I'll pass the message along Lesley...I'll post the famous "Y seam breakthrough" block when I finish all the others.

sarah...your blocks look fabulous! Like you just waltzed through them...nothing to it, right????

sarahelloyd 03-30-2010 04:00 PM

Sorry about the labels, may brain didn't count the week we had off (week 7) so I went from 6 to 7, but then after posting it I realised that what I had done and that it would confuse everyone. I think it is cos the clocks changed on Sunday and it always leaves me out of sync. I am sorry!! blood, sweat, tears and nothing too it!!!! LOL

wilhelmina 03-30-2010 04:22 PM

Pretty blocks ladies!!! I have two done for this week!

Sheree from Chicago 04-01-2010 03:39 PM

Thanks for the peek at what's coming!

Shemjo 04-01-2010 09:16 PM

I have one more block to do! M3 looks like more fun! When do we need to post pictures of this whole set?

Sheree from Chicago 04-02-2010 02:50 AM

I worked on L10 last night for several hours. Mostly all Y seams. I thought "this is not fun anymore". More stress than enjoyment/relaxation is not a good thing. May need to take a break from this for a while.

sandpat 04-02-2010 04:19 AM

Woohoo!!! Finished L10 last night....only one block left (and the tri)...I just noticed that I have printed off M1...it says M11 on the thread title....which is right?... I worked on the drawing of L10 until I only had 4 "Y" seams and after I had it done, I realized that I could have eliminated those also...on well...its done and acceptable...

Sheree...don't give up!!! You can persevere..we're all here to commiserate with. And we do have a break next week anyway.

Sharon, I think you can post this week's anytime and if you want to post the group for what was it wk 7-wk 13??? I think you'll need to start the thread.

Mamaskeeto 04-02-2010 11:33 AM

Need to find alittle time to sit and sew. I have yet to start this weeks blocks.

retrogirl02 04-02-2010 02:48 PM

I'm not completely done with this week yet. You are all doing a fantastic job! I don't know about you, but I'm ready for a break!!!

Don't give up Sheree, it gets better as you get further along. The seeks nearer the summer have easier blocks, and only three and a tri per week.

Sheree from Chicago 04-02-2010 03:34 PM

Thank you for your words of encouragement!
