Mystery Quilt Train Ride, Jan 7th

As promised, the 16th Mystery Quilt Train Ride is ready to roll! Next Saturday will be the first clue towards a fabulous quilt I have no doubt you will love! (well, the beta group -- my daughter -- loves it!)See you next week! First clue will be posted by 8 a.m. MST in the Block of the Week and Month section.

mawluv 12-31-2016 11:42 AM

Hi Judy, I'm ready to roll! Meet you at the depot on the 7th.!!!!

paintmejudy 12-31-2016 12:04 PM

Great! See you then.

Belfrybat 12-31-2016 12:49 PM

Wonderful! The Bonnie Hunter mystery should be wrapping up around the time you give cutting instructions. Let this train roll!

paintmejudy 12-31-2016 02:43 PM

Belfry, can't see the BH ending next week. We haven't even touched the yellow, and haven't assembled anything. This is the first BH mystery I have done, so I don't know her process but seems like there is still a lot to do if it does indeed end that week

b.zang 12-31-2016 02:49 PM

Judy, your instructions are always easy to follow and end up with some patterns I would never choose had I known where they would end because I would write the pattern off as too hard. Thanks for the confidence building instructions.

happylab 12-31-2016 07:55 PM

I'm looking forward to another fun ride. See you then, thank-you for the heads up.

Happy New Years everyone!!!!!<:)<:)<:)<:)

annt59 12-31-2016 08:47 PM

Looking forward to it. Thanks.

Evie 12-31-2016 10:06 PM

I've been cleaning and rearranging my sewing room and should be all put together by next Saturday. Am so looking forward to our next ride!

Happy New Year!

jmoore 01-01-2017 05:17 AM

Woohoo...what a great way to start the new year. I will have my house back in order by next Saturday and look forward to Mystery Train 16.

coopah 01-01-2017 05:46 AM

Looking forward to it! B.Zang is right about confidence building with the mystery patterns you give us. My 1/2 square triangles have improved, but I'm still not crazy about them! :-) See you Saturday!

Belfrybat 01-01-2017 05:52 AM

I'm looking forward to relaxing and sewing with everyone. Bonnie Hunter has the reveal posted, but there's around 3 steps left to do, although she compacts them into one. I should be finished assembling the half size by the time we start the cutting and sewing on this one. At least that is my plan, but we all know when humans plan, God laughs. :o

bennie0755 01-01-2017 06:54 AM

I agree with you. I think Bonnie has a couple of weeks to go. But...It's a mystery!

cannyquilter 01-01-2017 07:23 AM

Well I'm coming along from the ride. Not sure if I'll join in as I have two quilts to make before the beginning of April.

lawsonmugs 01-01-2017 08:54 AM

Hey everybody... So glad to get packed for the next train ride. See ya at the station !!! Happy New Year to all of you !!!<:)

nancia 01-02-2017 03:23 AM

Chasezzz 01-02-2017 04:50 AM

Sounds like another fun trip! Looking forward to it.

Barb in Louisiana 01-02-2017 05:42 AM

I'm ready for the train ride. I have been following the mysteries for years, and finally sewed the last mystery. Even then, I couldn't start on it until I saw what it was going to finish to be. This time I am going to give over control to Judy and pick my fabrics out at the beginning and start sewing. I am, I am, I am!!! "big smile" Does anyone else have mystery quilt control paralysis? I will overcome this terrible condition. I do hope it isn't too big of a quilt. I did love the last table runner. It was quick. I didn't lose my attention span and the result was very pretty. Thanks Judy for starting the train ride again.

kuntryquilter 01-02-2017 06:05 AM

I have purchased my ticket and waiting for the 'All Aboard' signal.

Lstew2212 01-02-2017 06:10 AM

I'm going to join this time, I'm hopping on board.

ka9sdn 01-02-2017 06:20 AM

Have been waiting for this notice!

quilt9226 01-02-2017 12:18 PM

I swore I would not do another mystery quilt for awhile but this sounds like fun and I'm hoping that all the fabric I need comes from my stash, which is epic.

retiredteacher09 01-02-2017 12:35 PM

Hooray! I love following along. I just finished the borders on Mystery 7!!! I found it when I was cleaning/reorganizing over the summer. :)

I quickly made a short list of projects I am working on, UFO's, and a couple that I want to start. So now I have one more to add. Hopefully, this list will keep me from losing/forgetting projects.

OK, I'm going to ask. I've seen these conversations every year about the "train" but I have never figured out how to join. I'm asking on bended knee :) how do you get your "ticket"?

Yes...Chersom, I have been a member on here for a pretty good while, but I'm just not familiar with the Train thing - I hope someone will help us out with this.

mawluv 01-02-2017 03:44 PM

All you have to do is just follow along with this thread! Judy will post the clues each Saturday! Hope you all ride along with us!

Elise1 01-02-2017 04:33 PM

I have never done a mystery quilt and would like to join this year. Sounds fun!

lawsonmugs 01-02-2017 04:38 PM

The train is imaginary. It's just a fun way to follow along in between clues. There is no signing up. Just follow along every Saturday . Leave a comment or two. Maybe post a picture as you choose fabrics and make the clues. It's a lot of fun and stress free. Judy is a very good hostess and the people make it even more fun with some silliness. Most of her mysteries are for table toppers or runners. You can make extra pieces to make a bigger quilt or whatever. Just follow this link to the Saturday clues. Have fun with us. Welcome to everyone. See ya all there. Mary

Tomara 01-02-2017 05:30 PM

never done one of these, are they hard and how often are the clues posted. Please enlighten me

retiredteacher09 01-02-2017 06:10 PM

Tomara: The clues are posted once a week. Paintmejudy will give fabric info this Saturday. I have done a few of her Mystery Train rides and they are not hard. If you go to the search bar for this forum and type in Mystery Train by Paintmejudy, you can take a look at some of her other projects.

Even if you don't choose to do the project, it is a lot of fun following along.

Yay! You know I'm there, Judy. :) So much fun every time. I've got lots of things going, but what is one more?

If you haven't joined Judy's mysteries before, I can assure you that you won't be sorry!

Tomara 01-02-2017 07:24 PM

thank you and yes I am going to jump on board and give the train a try. Hope I can keep up, and figure it out. So much I have not done yet but willing to learn. Paper piecing is one I have not had the courage to try yet.

Gail B 01-02-2017 10:35 PM

I'm hopping on the train for the first time. Sounds like a fun time.

Roma Bauder 01-03-2017 07:43 AM

I am ready willing and able to hit the rails ...........

Sheep Farmer 01-03-2017 08:02 AM

This will be a first for me, too.
Sounds like a lot of fun!

No paper piecing in these mysteries. They are straight forward piecing and if anybody has any questions they just need to ask. The passengers will jump in with answers and Judy is always there to assist as needed. Her mysteries are the best and so much fun. You won't be disappointed. I've got my ticket and eagerly waiting for Saturday. Oh, and since this is a virtual train ride, the food in the club car is excellent with no calories!:p

So true Jan. So many new faces. Glad to see that. Glad to see some of the regulars also. I have done several of Judy's rides and they are fun and not hard. You usually can learn something new. Since it is not a swap you go at your speed and if it isn't great....so what. It's yours and you had fun and maybe learned something.

dhanke 01-03-2017 01:21 PM

I'll be waiting at the station! I can't resist these awesome mysteries that Judy puts together out of the goodness of her heart, she's a marvel!! Ironically, I just signed up for the 2017 UFO challenge, so I'll have to finish the mystery promptly so it doesn't turn into a UFO.

AlvaStitcher 01-03-2017 05:18 PM

Think I'm going to jump on board this train too. I have done 1 or 2 of these but not for quite a while. Should be great fun. Trying to get B. Hunter's mystery quilt done but that will take a back seat maybe while I do this one.

lawsonmugs 01-04-2017 06:32 AM

Alva I too am doing the BH mystery. I'm taking a break before I sew it together. I think I will enjoy it more that way.
