isn't that part of the mystery, the number of clues/steps?

everyone is doing such a wonderful job and everything is looking good.:)

I missed a step. What pages are the steps on?

They also had the 24 x 36 for $20 - stupid me, I didn't buy the big one, already had a big one but for $20 .... buiyer's remorse once again. It's made by Bluefig -- www.bluefig.net and had never heard of them before, but they are just as good as Olfa cutting mats.

thanks for the info. $20 for a 24 x 36, yep i would have gotten it.:)

update: wouldn't you know they do not have one available on their website, just a pic. a teaser is all.:( but i will find one.:)

love seeing everyone's work! Im going to finish up this week's step today. Im dying to finish it!

I definitely want to do more of these. I get intimidated starting a project so having it broken into "bite-sized" chunks is great for me!

I got the Fiskars 24x36 for $10 at a Big lots! I was a happy girl that day!

paintmejudy 06-10-2012 07:24 AM

Havplenty, yes, it is, but since I had announced in the posting #1 that there will be a total of 7 clues, I will repeat it. And yes, I do agree, every one is doing a wonderful job, love seeing all the combinations of fabrics.

Love everyone's colors! They are all so pretty sewn together in piano key form! I am so far behind; haven't even started cutting for this Mystery since I am trying to do some catch up on too many other WISP's!! I do have my fabrics in a "tub"--ready to be cut and all steps printed! I think I will be working on this one when I get off the train in Buellton at the end of the month for a Quilt Retreat!! I woke up in the middle of the night thinking about what I would work on at the retreat and what to take on our month long RV trip in July/Aug! (I seem to have a lot of projects that are close to needing to be sandwiched and FMquilted and that step of quilting takes up much more room to do. Don't want to take those projects in the RV).

Step Four Complete, Pull the Whistle Cord Conductor!

Drug myself out of the garden yesterday and jumped back on the Mystery Train. I completed Step 3 and Step 4. I chain pieced the 2 1/2" x 4 1/2" rectangles and it went quickly. I will be all ready for clue 5.

Along the way I rescued the little bird in the last picture. We have large windows and quite often have birds flying into them. This little guy was stunned but eventually flew away.

Cindy60545 06-10-2012 08:10 AM

Caroline, Glad you got caught up! Such a pretty bird too! Glad he got over his stun & wasn't seriously injured. Now we can partake of the club car til next weeks clue! OOPS! Race is coming on! Gotta go watch Jr try & win this one!

chefbwarner 06-10-2012 09:22 AM

Time to go racing. It's Jr's day for sure Cindy Retta on the gulf waiting for more storms. arrrghhhhh hope we don't lose power

paintmejudy 06-10-2012 09:35 AM

Go Junior!!! He's my fave.

It is time for him to win!!! I hope they figure out soon why they are getting so many pit road speeding violations..

paintmejudy 06-10-2012 10:55 AM

I agree, it's been pretty dismal for Dale lately, feel bad for him, he's always such a gentleman, not like some. Wish he had just a teeny bit of the fire his father had! But then, look where that got him.

Oh I so agree! Chocolate! My favorite! Jr. came in 8th, but he had a strong showing today. Can't help but feel he's sitting on the fence for a win. I agree Judy, he needs a little more of Daddy's fire! Every once in awhile he puts that attitude out & does really well, just wish he's do it a little more often!

Sadiemae 06-10-2012 02:47 PM

Bummer, Junior didn't win. Happy for Joey though, he seems really sweet.

Jenniky 06-10-2012 02:54 PM

I have to agree with everyone else. Wonderful fabrics and the intrigue of the mystery is keeping us thinking. :) Great job Judy. Thanks again for hosting another fabulous journey. :) :) :) :)

Hello everyone! I'm new to your board and have been reading about all the comings and goings aboard the train. Unfortunately, I'm not able to participate in this mystery quilt but I am enjoying watching everyone's quilts coming together. I am currently working on a quilt for my brother and SIL that is huge! I do have one question though. How often does this train run? I'd love to jump aboard the next one.

paintmejudy is the creator behind this mystery quilt train. i am not sure how often she is planning these quilt trips. this current trip will end at step 7 (per her earlier post) and i havent seen anything posted if she is planning a next project. but as fun as these trips are, i am sure she has more planned.

kd7kyo 06-10-2012 07:08 PM

okay this is it. I should be able to hop on board this week bringing some cheesecake NY style and get a busy with cutting and sewing. Been so crazy, i think i just need to kick everyone out and not answer that cell phone for a weekend

PokerDiva 06-11-2012 04:28 AM

Sauki, I have been trying to talk Judy into a different kind of ride for the next trip. I have put on a little weight in the club car these last two rides. So many goodies. I thought maybe a bicycle trip through the wine country in CA. We could stop at all the wineries and LQSs. Maybe stay at some B&Bs. Or we could take a paddle boat down the Mississippi. Play a little poker between stops. Do a cattle drive in Texas and stay at some ranches where they have some electricity for our sewing machines. OH OH OH...We could follow the Oregon Trail. Anybody else have a suggestion for our next trip? White Water raft down the Colorodo?

Jenniky 06-11-2012 04:38 AM

IDK PokerDiva Im still waiting for one of them gorgeous train robbers to pay a visit to our mystery train. You know the ones like in the romance novels.. where the men are so handsome you don't even mind being robbed. :D

However; the paddle boat down the Mississippi sounds like a really fun mystery trip also. I don't think my hip would hold up to a bicycle trip  .

SunlitenSmiles 06-11-2012 04:58 AM

thinking bicycle trip would require handpiecing.....doll quilt maybe......

whitewaterrafting...not with my stash................think of the hours of pressing......

I really love trains, always have, always ........have a little 'N' gauge in the sewing room.....

LOL the add on the bottom of the page is the toy train...Thomas LOL

Still 'auditioning' arrangements of the rectangles for this clue....overthinking a bit, I guess.

PokerDiva 06-11-2012 05:03 AM

Jenniky, I never thought about the train robbers. Hmmmm. You are right. My DH loves westerns. One of our dogs is named Jesse James. After the outlaw not the dirty dog who was married to Sandra Bullock.

Jenniky 06-11-2012 05:32 AM

The Romance of the West... :) Now rumor has it that on our next clue stop the engineer was going to add on a casino car. It probably would only have a few friendly tables for poker and maybe five of those really old fashion slot machines altered so it only plays with token buttons. Not the animated video types out there today.. Just a few reels and hopefully lots of luck. :) We could play poker for FQ's. I will see your flower print and raise you a Paisley... :D :D :D :D

I am also still auditioning my arrangement of rectangles.... Just switched them again this morning.. LOL

Caroline, the bird matches your quilt! Love that color combo. Glad he was ok!

Yayaquilts (Karen?) I always have too many WIPs. There's so many pretty patterns I want to do them all, LOL. I get overwhelmed, too, and drift away. That's why I love this.

The last clue is June 30th, so there is 6 Saturdays ? Plus the first one, so 7 in all?

I'd love to finish in time for vacation and use it as a beach blanket. We're leaving July 2, so I dont know. Maybe if I spend Sat And Sun quilting itt.

SheriR 06-11-2012 06:22 AM

All y'all are funny. How about our own private cruise. Maybe to Alaska or some fun island. Sunlit can put her stash in a steamer trunk. And we can diet on salmon or papaya. :D

Cindy60545 06-11-2012 06:28 AM

oh Jennniky! I LIKE your ideas!!

Oh! Fun island! Somewhere in the Carribbean???? Maybe St. Thomas, St. Marten? They do have quilt shops there!

dabbler312 06-11-2012 06:56 AM

Love the ideas about a new adventure - the most exciting is the mystery involved.

Jenniky - our LQS had a wild west themed retreat a while back and they played poker for FQ; it was a great hit and one they have incorporated into several other retreats.

Stretch your imagination - what would our FQ bandit look like?

PokerDiva 06-11-2012 07:25 AM

I tend to think he would look like Johnny Depp. Yes Sir Eee.

Havplenty 06-11-2012 07:34 AM

i love the paddle boat down the mississippi gambling for fq's mystery trip idea.:)
