Making the Barrister's Block...
What size are the little HSTs and the larger ones? I have found that 1/4" makes a difference. Directions could be more detailed. TY |

What happened to the February Quilting Bee link? It was there yesterday but I can no longer find it today, was it removed?
Jan |
Dottie..I agree the directions were not as clear as they could have been (I also am puzzled why I can't find the string on the February blocks...this is the January string). The little HSTs are squared to 1 3/4" (see size of the background squares for the corners) and finish at 1 1/4". The large HSTs are squared at 4 1/4" and finish at 3 3/4" (you will see one side is equal to three of the little HSTs..1 1/4" x 3 = 3 3/4"). Finished sizes 3 3/4" plus 1 1/4" = finished 5", or half of a 10" finished block (of course, since there are 1/4" unfinished edges on the outside of the block, it ends up 10 1/2" unfinished).

I luckily downloaded the files for the february blocks...
Here they are for anyone wanting to 'get on' with their blocks, until we get our Feb thread back... Hugs all, Jacquie xxx |
THANKS Jacquie...I've been trying to find the thread, and it says it was 'Invalid'?? It was there last nite.. I've looked everywhere, so wrote Admin.. Guess we'll just wait to see what's happened to it.
Everyone - just keep an eye out for the return of the February Bee.. Hopefully today. Jean |
February thread is back for me. Yea!
|
It's back for me Yea!! now to make the blocks
|
We should have the directions on the Feb block right? I can't find them anywhere.
|
It's in a different thread. Go to home at the top of the page. Then find block of the month and week and click on that. Then look for quilting bee Feb 2017.
|
Then to subscrib, go to thread tools near the right top of the new page. Choose subscrib.
|
The Feb. thread is found at: HOME, BLOCK OF MONTH & WEEK, listed as New Quilting Bee February 2017. There will be a new thread each month, so will have to check. I'll try to post a msg.. at the end of the month where the new one is. Then you can subscribe to it..

here is the link to the Feb blocks. Hope it works for you http://www.quiltingboard.com/blocks-...a-t285681.html

Okay here's my 2nd January block, had some problems because I cut a piece only half wrong! lol Leave it to me to complicate things...anyhow here is my block...
Hugs, Betty |
Isn't it funny how depending on the material the block looks so different. I say this all the time and yet each time I am still amazed. I looked at your block and went into instant panic mode thinking I didn't make that block. Really nice selection of fabrics.
|
Thanks AnngelAnne, actually I had a different fabric where the orange is now and it looked horrible! lol In fact I grabbed the orange not thinking about using it in my block last month! So I put it away so I wouldn't grab it again.
Hugs, Betty |
I joined the quilting bee in June and so far I have made 3 blocks that are 10 1/2" finished. Any ideas on how I can enlarge this pattern to 10 1/2"?
|
Hi Fabric...are you referring to the July blocks, which are posted in a new July thread? While the directions say they are for 10" blocks, that means they are 10 1/2" before they are sewn into a quilt using 1/4" seams (when sewn with 1/4" seams the completed, sewn-in block will be 10"). Hope that helps.
|
Thanks Chasezzz...couldn't have said it better myself..lolo

I made my block for January yesterday and I printed the block instructions for February. Hopefully I will get caught up if I do 1 block a week.

I finally felt strong enough to make my Auntie's Puzzle block yesterday. My computer crashed last week. I got it back yesterday and now I have to download all of my software again. It is very frustrating. I will try to post my photos this weekend.
