New Quilting Bee February, 2017
Well, we are starting our second month of the New Bee. I'm so glad to see so many join in and enjoy making the blocks. I hope everyone that made January's will also do February's.
The one stipulation is that when you have made your block, you must post a picture in order to be in the next month. The blocks will be 10” finished. This month's blocks have been chosen by Sauki1 (Angie). I hope you will try them & post pictures. We welcome new participants. Just send me a PM or post on the New Bee, I will see that you want to join in. Here are the two block patterns plus a printable version of how to make 8 HST at a time. Enjoy. :) http://www.patchworksquare.com/mf/ba...uilt-block.pdf http://quilting.about.com/od/blockof...orit.htm#step1 http://quilting.about.com/od/piecing...nits.htm#step1 Happy Sewing Jean |
Thank you! Lovely blocks chosen by Angie!!
I've downloaded them and will try and take a look in the next few days  :) Hugs all, Jacquie xxx |
I like the pinwheel technique where you sew around 2 squares (right sides together) , cut an X & then assemble pinwheel. NO HSTs.

Beautiful, love the colors.

Love those fabrics Jean! Great job on those beautiful blocks.
Hugs, Betty |
Oksewnsew: Very nice blocks. I have the patterns saved for the next two blocks.
Connie |
just downloaded the patterns. These will be a challenge for me
|
I love the second block ! The first is cool, too, but I'm a sucker for pinwheels, and this secondary design really has pizzazz.
|
These look like fun blocks. Where do we find January's blocks?
|
Zozee, you know you can do either or both blocks, or make two of one block, whatever you'd like. But it's always good to challenge ourselves to do something different, soooo.. :)
Jannie, if you will go to the thread under HOME, Block of the Month & Week, New quilting bee 2017 you will find January's blocks.. The first is on the first page, "Album Frame" , then on page 7, #137 is the second block "Spinning Blades". These are all 10" blocks, finished. These are your blocks to keep, make one or both. It started out that we'd do one block a month, but so many finished early, thought I'd throw in another block. Welcome & have fun, post pictures and chat.. Jean [h=3][/h] |
I'm in would like to do these block too. Like to do different kinds of blocks.
|
Love these blocks and your color choices. Can't wait to start mine.

I accidentally posted mine in last months section. I listed a few tips I used when making them. Have fun! Angie |
I love the blocks that Oksewnsew made. The colors are bright and spring looking. Great Job.
|
Some great looking blocks here. Angie, aka Sauki1, Thanks for posting the Grandmother's Favorite block in just the 3 colors. I, also, have a limited palette in my primary fabric and really don't want to go outside those colors. I like how you used the colors. I, also, need to keep my primary fabric as the larger piece because the pattern on the fabric is really too big for this project.

Here are my February blocks...I am working with a pack of FQs that are in blues, greens and whites. These look good with the ones I made last month.

Love these blocks!! I am headed to a super bowl retreat tomorrow through Sunday so should get them done ( and maybe recruit a few more followers !!!)
|
Lookin' good, Chasezzz. I think greens & navy make such a statement together. Great, have fun Carrot.
|
Sauki1, Oksewnsew and Chazzz, great looking blocks! Can't wait to get started on mine, maybe this weekend. Just arrived in Alabama yesterday and need to get my sewing room in order and help DH with the yardwork. I'm thinking of starting over with the January and February blocks in a different colorway.
Jan |
Thanks.. One thing about making these blocks for yourself is you can make them scrappy or in a theme. Have fun getting your room in order.
|
The pinwheels for Grandmother's Favorite- what size do they square up to?
|
the blocks so far are so pretty. love seeing everyone's blocks.
|
Dotty, they measure 4 1/2"
|
Thanks, I'm off to sew!

Thanks, I'm off to sew!
|
you guys are fast at making these blocks. Love the different colors. I am going to give them a try tomorrow.
|
Love your blocks Chasezzz! Thanks Barb. I didn't even think about it that way. But if you're anything like me, I do better visually and actually seeing it how I want it to turn out first. :) I'm glad everyone is enjoying trying them.

Loving all the blocks so far this month!! Do ever feel like you want to make them all and you should live forever so you can get it all done ??!!! Here are my Feb. blocks............it is going to be a long month waiting for the March blocks to be posted :D
|
Great job carrot! I think the hardest part is waiting for next months blocks.
|
LOLO, you ladies are so quick.. Carrot, those are really pretty blocks. Maybe you all could make another of Jan. & Feb's blocks reversing the colors. It would give different looks for sure. Glad everyone is enjoying this.

Very pretty blocks Carrot.
Here are my February blocks. We have a public holiday here today so thought I would get them out of the way before heading back to work tomorrow. Glad that February is a short month - roll on March. |
Looks very nice, Diane...Glad to see everyone tackling the little pcs.:)

Here are my two blocks. Look a little closer and you will see that I cut out the 12 inch block for barrister instead of the intended 10 inch block. I had already bisected the triangles when I realized it. I decided to make it as cut and either make a pillow out of it or use the block on the back. When I make the ten inch block I will use a less busy more neutral background!
|
LOLO looks great Petunia. Remember these are your blocks, so if you don't want to make another in a 10", don't.. Pretty colors..
|
I will remake the barrister block in the correct size cause I decided at the start that I'm all in! Now if only I wasn't a floral designer or if only valentine's day wasn't next week...
|
hoping to get a day off the end of the month. may skip this month and someday get caught up. lol. But everyone's blocks are looking so nice.
