Very pretty, Anne!! These weeks have gone by so fast; can't believe we're this far along.
I love the variety of fabrics you're using-bright and cheery.

JeanieG 02-28-2012 07:34 PM

Oh how fun, can't wait to see what everyone has done all in one place! Great job Anne - very colorful, it is going to make a wonderful quilt. I'll photo mine when I finish this weeks blocks. I just happen to put them up on my display wall last week. It makes me so happy to see them up there.

I made a picture of what we've done till this week, so 18 blocks. Do you want me to take another picture of the first 15 blocks?

janRN 02-29-2012 05:39 AM

Beautiful job, Anael. Love your colors. I expecially like the Block 1 with the purple flowers. They're all outstanding.

Anael 02-29-2012 05:44 AM

Thank you Jan!

deranged_damsel 02-29-2012 06:47 AM

oooohhh! PRETTY!!!
i will post mine in a day or two :)

wendiq 02-29-2012 07:47 AM

I have each of my blocks filed separately in plastic sleeves in a binder, so please pardon me if I don't take them apart to photo. I will enjoy seeing what you all have done......just too lazy to pull all mine out to photo....I have done most of them, so far. I only skip the ones with that dreaded "Y seam". I pp and no way do I want to deal with that. This is suppose to be fun....:) so I pick and choose.......

WendiQ ... Did you know you can still do Y-seams in PPing? I feared them in FWS and then discovered they came together prettty slick. You just sew to the corner and not past it, then twist it around and join to the other side, only coming to the corner (same stitch) as the first seam.

Though I will nudge you to take them out of their sleeves and do the group photo. You'll find it so rewarding for yourself, and help inspire you for your next blocks. (or atleast photo the group with the blocks in the sleeves? (and too, yes, we all want to see them!!!!!!!!!!!)

Honchey and Anael ... Oh so nice to see the grouping. Amazing how the colours are playing together from one block to the other. Both of you have some turquoise and I really like how it's pulling out the subtleties of it in other blocks.

Moi? ... I'm not going to post mine til I have the full grouping ready! All these groups though are going to help inspire me towards some of the fabric choices I'll make in future blocks. (First, I'll finish up my FWS! ..... and get this week's blocks done then later catch up on the earlier blocks)

gardnergal970 02-29-2012 03:27 PM

Wow, seeing all of the blocks together is really neat. I'll get my picture in the morning and post it.

Honchey...do I see a missing apple tree and that's why you have only 15? Just saying....but that came when you were having a multitude of problems with your computer....then you got sick....it sure isn't one to tackle when there are so many distractions!!! There would be a smiley face winking' at you if I knew where to find them. :)

gardnergal970 02-29-2012 03:29 PM

Well how about that? Smiley showed up but I never saw him coming. :)

oksewglad 02-29-2012 06:39 PM

What lovely groupings, Honchey and Anael And don't worry about the extra 3 blocks Anael. They are just more eye candy to see!! Will post mine when I get them done.

nstitches4u 02-29-2012 07:30 PM

Very nice!

Honchey 02-29-2012 07:58 PM

Honchey...do I see a missing apple tree and that's why you have only 15? That's not the only missing one....Apple tree, The Depot & Broken Heart are also missing... I found the apple print I wanted to use after the week it was supposed to get done...couldn't decide on the background fabric for The Depot and I ran away from the Broken Heart when I saw all those little triangles and didn't want to do it...I will do them inbetween all the blocks coming up...I now see that the pping on the larger blocks is sooooo much easier than the 6" blocks from the FWS Quilt-Along. I don't know why ....there are days that all I want to do is cut fabric and won't even go near the machine and then just work on another project...Then I go back to the current one. figure it out??? I can't. It's coming along ok. H

QuiltE 03-01-2012 08:28 AM

Honchey ... It happens to me! And thus why I often have more than one thing on the go. If my brain isn't in the zone for one then I switch over to another project. At first, I hopscotched around a lot on FWS .... I'd want to sew but some of the blocks just seemed so complicated so I'd look for the easy peasy ones or ones I knew I could nab in the time I had at the moment. I'll probably do more of that with PC. And sometimes, I just want something simple and mindless to sew ... you know, goof proof! Then there are times when I just don't go near the machine. Is it burnout?

You're being productive, with all your cutting! think about how quick those blocks will sew up, when you have no decisions to make about fabrics, and the pieces are all cut and ready to go!!!!

Honchey...I feel that way on occasion too. Maybe why I have several projects going at once.

Here is my show and tell.

QuiltE 03-01-2012 12:10 PM

Wowzers!! What a varety ... and yet they all seem to come together.
GGal have you used any of your fabrics in a 2nd block?

janRN 03-01-2012 02:39 PM

Beautiful, Ggal. What a nice selection and balance of colors. Love the pink roses in the Depot something block. They all look great.

oksewglad 03-01-2012 03:24 PM

Okay you two (QE and Jan) quit stealing my words! I first thought what a wonderful variety and then ohh I really like the pink and black block. You beat me to it, but that's okay.--means we are seeing the same things!!:)

Wouldn't it be pretty used for a whole quilt?

gardnergal970 03-02-2012 06:06 AM

QuiltE...yes when I look close, I see a couple of duplications. I do like the rose and pink block as well. Thanks everyone for your compliments. You are all very encouraging.

wendiq 03-02-2012 07:56 AM

Anael.....Your blocks, every single one, are beautiful.....Can you tell I'm your "fan"?????LOL! I always enjoy seeing what you have done......pure perfection for the eye.....inspiration at it's best....:)

Honchey 03-02-2012 08:46 AM

Thanks JeanieG I like the colors want it for myself. This is my first real quilt. I am enjoying making it. Some of the blocks are giving me trouble but I will prevail.

janRN 03-02-2012 01:43 PM

Cookie & Jeanie, really gorgeous blocks! I love looking at them back to back like that--same blocks but what different results. Very inspiring color combos for the upcoming blocks. Great job everyone.

QuiltE 03-02-2012 03:07 PM

JanRN ... ditto to Honchey ... did you see? did you see? !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

CookieLM
.... So nicely coordinated!!! I hope you have a design wall so you can keep them right in front of you to remind you how well you are doing. The gold is looking more orangey in this picture, than it is IRL, right? With this being your first "real" quilt, as you call it, I'm so happy you are feeling good about it so far.

JeanieG ... What a lovely mixture. The creams/beiges are really helping to tone down the brights. All are looking really well together and you have lots of jumping off colours as you go along.

All ... I'm always amazed at the differences from one to the other ... and yet the same blocks! Wouldn't it be nice if we could view all groupings on the screen at once??

oksewglad 03-02-2012 07:48 PM

Cookie and Jeanie wonderful display of fabric beauties! Isn't it wonderful how different these blocks look with different fabrics.
I should soon be able to post here. Yeah!! A little handstitching and scanning a Bird's Eye then try to put them in my EQ program--looking forward to being able to move them around w/o a design wall.

Oh, wow! It amazes me to watch each of these lovely quilts becoming their own personalities! Seeing 'em here accents that even more! :) I'll post mine when I git the last 2 made. Probably when i get back from Van Alstine.

mirabelle 03-02-2012 11:52 PM

janRN 03-03-2012 05:43 AM

OK your blocks look beautiful together. I love the color scheme you're using. It's soft and subtle, very calming but each block has it's own personality. Very, very lovely blocks.

gardnergal970 03-03-2012 05:45 AM

Cookie, Jeanie, OK...your show and tell are just beautiful. Like it's already been said, each is so different but each is so well balanced and pretty. Cookie, you can be very proud of your first quilt.

Spectacular!!! They're ever so nice ... and even better IRL, as I think the colours are more muted here than some of the ones you showed earlier. Yes? No? The first one I noticed was the Clover Blossom just not being quite so lively.

Every time I see a grouping of a coordinated fabric line, I'm getting this itch to start a new project using such. Remember? that's one of my 2012 goals!

You're still a Geek!!!!! ... way beyond anything I could accomplish! :)
