Using Quilters Cache's Dresdan plate pattern http://www.quilterscache.com/D/DresdenPlateBlock.html
This Dresdan plate has 16 blades.

 I used the templates and instructions from this pattern with the exception that I wanted points on my plate. To make points I did the following also I added 1/4 inch to the the circle template.

Hope you all enjoy this block I picked for June.:thumbup::thumbup:

I really like that. What size is the top of your Dresden template and then the bottom. I don't have a printer to print off. I do have a 8 inch Dresden ruler. So if you tell me how big the bottom is I can make the plates. Thank you

If you did the www.craftsy.com BOM for 2012, the blocks for July were Dresden Plates. The directions for both patterns, round and pointy, are there and they are for 12" finished, 12.5" unfinished. If you did not do this BOM, you can still sign up for it, it's free.

I love this pattern.
Sandra, I made the Craftsy one and it has 20 blades using the 4" and then a 4" circle. That's the pointy one. For the rounded edge she used the 4 1/2" marking.

Top is 2.5" and the bottom of the template is 1" hope this helps. :)

Classic block, but extremely difficult for this applique novice. Off to find exact instructions on pointy dresdens. Let's have fun with this block. Jen, thanks for challenging me.

A good tutorial with the exception in my opinion the center circle she has too much extra fabric for underseam. Check out the tutorial from the Missouri Co in post #7 it will give you a much smoother, and nicer circle. There is also another method using a Pellon interfacing. Anyone know of a link that uses this technique???
