Diana I love you patriotic heart. Did you hand embroider the pretty hearts around it?

I have finally finished my Crazy Heart block for February. This block was so much fun to make, I really enjoyed this pattern. Instead of machine stitching all of the little pieces i chose to do hand embroidery work, because I love to do it that way. I hope you like my block for this month. ENJOY!!

I've finished! I had some confusion at first but think I got the logic of the PP. It's not going to win any awards but it's not bad, IMO for the first time using foundation piecing plus I got to use all the fancy zig-zag stitches on my dressmaker! I am soliciting tips for keeping the background from puckering with the satin stitch. I used stabilizer and that helped some but I wish it was flatter. Anywhoo...I'm calling this one "Blue Valentine".

SulaBug, did you just turn your edges and blanket stitch or did you use any sort of bond facing? Your crazy heart is beautifu and I am just trying to think of the best way to attach it to my block.
