Hello Everyone.

Here is a picture of the block that I made for August 2013. I really liked this pattern Tallahassee & was able to feature my floral theme with the pink & purple background. I am so anxious to know how everyone likes the pattern & to see how your blocks turn out. Good Luck everyone & don't forget to post your photo's, when you block is completed. We all love Show & Tell!!
:D :D :D :D

Very pretty. I'll take a big gulp, cross my fingers, and try to sew it. I've got a month to get it right :D

Oksewnsew 08-01-2013 06:38 AM

A BIG GULP, of coffee, lots of anxiety pills!!! :p LOLOLO Paper piecing is NOT my forte`, but I'll try it. Have printed out both sets of templates, just in case...;o( ;)

thimblebug6000 08-01-2013 06:49 AM

Your fabrics look wonderful in this pretty block.... off to print out the pattern, thanks!

Dedemac 08-01-2013 08:28 AM

Jaba, I looked at the instructions you don't have to paper piece there are templates also. I think I might go that route, I don't mind PP but prefer larger pieces. I'm going to try my first stack and whack on this one using templates.

jaba 08-01-2013 08:51 AM

I saw that too dedemac, let out a big sigh of relief here. Stack and whack would be beautiful, can't do that with my fabric but sure want to see yours when you finish.

marytoddliz 08-01-2013 08:10 PM

Oh boy I am working out side my box of comfort zone, but I do like the block, it reminds me of a flower! I think I will try the paper piece!

Stayed with my same color scheme and this is what I came up with today. Mercy, I'd hate to make a big quilt with this block, lots and lots of pieces!

Difergie 08-03-2013 04:07 PM

That will look perfect with your others...I am in Texas right now with son and family, so can't start til I get home...

WOW.............it is beautiful & you have done a wonderful job using the colors that you have selected for all of your blocks. I really like it & you made it look different than mine, by placing your color's like you did. I love it. I knew you could do it!! Thank you so much for sharing.
:D :D :D :D

jaba 08-03-2013 07:00 PM

Now I see the pic and it looks as though I need to "fix" that little 4 square in the middle. Think that seam better match a little better than it does. Tomorrow....or it will drive me nuts now that I know it's there. D--- pics they just show everything don't they?

Dedemac 08-03-2013 07:18 PM

Jaba, relax the block looks great! I don't see any seams that don't match. Love the colors.

CAS49OR 08-04-2013 12:57 PM

Very pretty Sulabug. I like the block. I plan to sew it tomorrow.

Green eggs & spam, anyone? :D I'm continuing with my black/white/green fabrics I collected on vacation last year. This pattern was a challenge to find fabrics left that would show the actual shapes...BUT.... it's best feature?? It measures exactly 12½" square

I'm continuing on with my Black/white/yellow and green. And I agree, I wouldn't want to make a big quilt, but this size is perfect. Katie

Yours is beautiful & calm compared to my "in your face" version, but mine is playing nicely with the others so far.

I have one of those, and when I lay out the blocks, it on the side and I have a couple calmer ones top bottom and other side. And it works great.

CAS49OR 08-05-2013 04:56 PM

Thimblebug I really like it! It's neat how you changed the look of the block the shape really appears in the center!

djmat 08-05-2013 05:28 PM

Thimblebug you crack me up! Love your green eggs & ham block, lol.
kgreene, yours is looking good, too!

Well, here is my first, itty bitty square... As I have professed, paper piecing is NOT my forte`...As you can see, kinda short on a couple corners. Ya could say this is a practice pc...lolo Good thing I have plenty of paper & fabric..;)

OK...Thanks to Patrice posting the foundations for a 12 1/2" block, I went with that. It's not perfect, but I think it will do. There's a couple corners that are a wee bit short, but it does measure 12 1/2"...think they might sew into the seam ok. I guess like CajunBear says, 'I have a mental block when it comes to paper-piecing' - it just seems hard to me..lol Anyway, it's done. Don't be too critical of me...:(

Everyone's blocks are so pretty! Amazing the totally different looks possible by varying color placement. Can't decide which I like best.

Oksewnsew 08-07-2013 06:38 AM

HAHA Thanks. If they keep posting paper pieced blocks on here!! maybe I'll get the hang of it..haha This is NOT a suggestion tho!

I think you are right. I love chocolate cupcakes With chocolate frosting of course.
I was not up to doing four small units, so I used graph paper and drafted the 12-1/2 inch block. It was fun as I had not drafted a block in quite awhile. Hope you all are have fun with this block also. :)

Yeah! Finished 1. For this one I used Patrice's pp pattern but I also am doing one using the pp pattern from Quilters Cache. It's not quite finished but soon, have to work on other things too.

Yay, I finally got it done. My sewing machine is acting weird, it doesn't seem to be tying, so my seams come undone. I shortened my stitch length to 2.0 and it's a little better.

Cas49OR, Beautiful. Your colors are so rich. Amazing how just using all solids make the appearance change.

Difergie 08-13-2013 04:11 AM

Love the jewel tones.....

marytoddliz 08-13-2013 09:14 AM

I have been over thinking this block! Trying to get around the "block" in my brain as to what I am doing wrong. I finished the block but it is sadly an 11 3/4 block! so back to the drawing board. I can usually do paper pieced, but I think I am trying to combine both techniques pp and template. I guess I was too tired, today I start fresh!
