I didn't get in on this one, and I'm in the middle of a king size quit and have a small one to do for a friends wedding, so too busy right ow, but hope to do the one in September. If I don't have the skills for some of the blocks, I will have to substitute. ;-) I've never tried paper piecing or curves.

I feel for ya..... I've been dealing with tendonitis issues in my left arm for many years. It comes and goes depending on what I'm doing. When it's in my forearm, the pain can be unbearable. I deal with hand pain in both hands but that's related to my fibromyalgia.

Quilting is also my mental health outlet. Still caring for DH almost full time but he's slowly getting better so I'm hopeful to get some sewing done this weekend. I have a t-shirt quilt I need to finish by the end of April and a fan quilt to make for DGD's graduation.

Feel better !!!

Everyones blocks are really looking great. I had so much going on this last little bit that I haven't participated, but I have lurked. My DSister is doing it, and watching how well she does makes me just giddy with excitement. Lora, I want to see more!!

MommaKashuba 03-08-2013 04:20 PM

I'm working on it! I am SOOOOO enjoying my new quilt! It is awesome! I curled up with it last night on the couch and fell asleep! Love you!!

Perfect!! Thank you for the Wyoming Valley Block, I love it and was going to do it for an extra block if I needed one. I'm really going to miss this quilt along every week, but I'll have lots of time to get it all put together and completed..This has been such a fun project, thank you so much Wyldwytch, you did a fabulous job!!

Are these the last blocks in this collection?

Got the octagon and twist finished. Did this block contain what you guys refer to as Y-seams? Yikes. Otherwise - the block assembly was very quick. The Wyoming Valley block looks pretty challenging to this newbie quilter. Wyldwtch - thanks for hosting the quilt-along. I think you have done a fabulous job. One thing that helped me the most was 'pinning' each quilt pattern instruction to a shared quilting Pinterest board. Maybe for the next quilt-along (if you are on Pinterest) - all the patterns could be posted there? Then post a link to the board in the thread. Not sure that would work unless everyone following along is on Pinterest. It is sometimes hard for me to go back through all the posts to find a pattern.

Nice Rosebud, I forgot to print the template for the Lemonstar, got it now and am going to go sew that one. First 2 are done so will post after I get this sewn.

Here is my Chinese Puzzle. As you can see I had a design opportunity with it. I had already recut those little triangles, so I had a decision to make. Rip out, recut and resew or keep my sanity. I opted for sanity, since I may need it later.

Finished two of this weeks blocks. Think I'll skip the Lemon Star block, at least for now.

Wyldwytch 03-10-2013 01:41 PM

Sorry I didn't reply sooner Dot, got sick with whatever my granddaughter had last week when I was watching her. We still have 3 more weeks of the QA. As for meeting, yes we will, we aren't far from each other. I did go to the quilt show but I was only there for about 90 minutes, took a LOT out of me energy wise, but trust me I did some damage to the checking account in the brief time I was there...LOL 4 quilt kits, some thread from Superior and 5 yards of wool batting.

Depending on how everyone feels about it I would like to continue with the Quilt Along, not so much to make the quilts bigger..BUT to work on some stuff that we will encounter in the next quilt which is a theme quilt. I would like to know how everyone feels about it?

Some of the stuff we would be focusing on is curves, paper piecing, and templates. Just feel it might be a way to use up scraps and get comfortable so that no one feels overwhelmed when we do the next one.

Also, wanted to know your opinions about when to start the next one. I was originally thinking September, but someone brought up a good point about that's usually when people start to work on their holiday gifts. So with that said, here is the question...

Do we want to start the next Quilt Along in August or September? If we start it in August that will give anyone who wants to participate 4 months to work on the skills needed and pick fabrics. I am in the process of working on the design which than has to be translated into blocks.

If anyone has questions feel free to ask.

Rosie

Hi
I would like to quilt along, with the next one will you be able to tell us how much fabric is need for the quilt and the size it may turn out. I will need to know at least a month in advance as I order most of my fabric from US and I have to wait for delivery.

Curves and templates and paper piecing - oh my!
Lyn - great question! I would like to pick my fabrics ahead of time too.
Wyldwytch - It doesn't matter to me when we start the next quilt along. I am uber busy right now and I don't see it slowing down for the next 15 years or so... LOL. I'm a single mom to a DD(10) and DS (7). I know I can't wait though!

Here's 2, worked on the lemon- whatever today for about 4 hours and it's still not done and not really sure if it ever will be. I don't mind a set in seam here and there but every one of them is a tad bit straining on me at this point. Put it in a bag and maybe someday when I want to get frustrated......The others were perfect and made me very happy, I can say that now. If the fabric in the lemon- would have been heavy enough, I could have thrown it and knocked a window out, trust me you didn't want to be in my sewing cave today the walls heard alot more than they should have.

jaba 03-10-2013 05:28 PM

Oh and forgot the question, just keep on going as far as I'm concerned, when I have enough blocks of these fabrics, I'll just pick another one and keep going. It's nice not to have the pressure to get it done. Have time, sew it and if not you don't have to. I also would like to know how large the next "segment" of our quilt along will be though. Just thinking ahead of fabric amounts and maybe what I would like to make. This little journey has been awesome though and I want to thank you so much for doing it. I think I'm going to like this quilt, not sure what I'll do with it but who cares....I'd be sewing something.

Dedemac 03-10-2013 06:57 PM

Jaba, Nice to know I am not the only one with frustrations on the Lemon star, I measured and cut the templates, but it just does not want to lay flat. I think I will put it in my glass program and print templates from there. I had a cut carefully and even marked the intersections but the sections will not lay flat. Love how the colors work in your last two block.

Lynda, Nice blocks! Have you taken a picture of them all together? I would like to see how they blend.

Wyldwytch,

One vote here for just keep on keeping on. I am putting these into lap quilts so everything for me is from my stach and kind of scrappy. And yes I will do the blocks with curves. As for the next quilt along, I think the when ever you want to start the next one is fine with me, I will be here. I think this time I might actually get fabric just for this project, I have not done that yet. Thank you for all the new skills.

sewNso 03-11-2013 04:59 AM

i didn't jump on board with this one, but i might change my mind and do these blocks. looks like i can learn lots. i looked at this weeks/months easy block. and had not done tri's like that before. soooooo----something to learn. but i have been admiring all the 'free' blocks that are available thru this thread. thanks loads.

yorkie luv 03-11-2013 06:08 AM

I joined late, after this was started, and I plan to do the one in September. But after looking at everyone's beautiful blocks, I am thinking i might have to do these. Everyone s doing such a great job. I have saved this thread so I can easily find it.

I'm with you on this. I'm enjoying the QA simply because when I have time to sew, I can...if not, that's ok too. I've been printing off every block and got a few done. Not sure I like the fabrics I've picked. I need to post a pic for group "yeah" or "nay" on these fabrics.

So, whatever the group wants to do is ok with me. Busting my stash is my main objective.

Elisabrat 03-11-2013 07:33 AM

I love the block with the twist. its not as hard as all that and it comes out very lovely. I have one already in my pile. I will have to sit out the next one, paper piecing is NOT for and curves are a bit more advanced than I care to work with. I can't do exercises in frustration :( I think I need classes for those and no classes up here unfortunately. I would love to join our quilting guild but they meet on my clinic days and its 60.00 to join plus fees for each class. yikes. sorta not happening especially when in winter months even if it were a day I was home its higher up in elevation and there is a ton of snow. so until I can find a quilter near by who wants to come work with me here I am outta luck :( Wyldewytch your doing a great job and the joy I hear in everyones postings when they do a block and it comes out! and then there is a batch to show all at once the TADA moments.. worth all the hard work. Thanks for hosting this. I will have to finish mine a bit from now. I have been making the back side of this quilt...plugging away at the more difficult blocks mostly. Plan to QAYG with identical-ish reverse blocks on the back.

Sapphire_Rae 03-11-2013 02:37 PM

Tracy, that is going to be gorgeous! I love the bright colors and your idea to make reversible. You are a creative chica!

GirlLivingForJesus 03-11-2013 04:32 PM

I agree with just keep on going! I'm no where near done, but I have until August to get this one done for my niece! I've been enjoying learning different techniques! I'll probably be out of the next one though curves are past my experience....and I still haven't tried a paper piecing one :o I'll just have to play it by ear when August/September gets here...

frenchfryqueen 03-12-2013 04:39 AM

I agree with the other ladies.. I'm definitely down for continuing with this one. I have been busy with a swap so I'm a little behind on the blocks, but I like the idea of always having them to come back to to practice on.

And I vote August for the next QA. :)

GirlLivingForJesus 03-17-2013 06:14 AM

Do we get any new blocks this week?

jaba 03-17-2013 06:22 AM

Kept looking for the new blocks yesterday, maybe she'll post them today.

Sapphire_Rae 03-17-2013 06:41 AM

I am waiting for new blocks too. I haven't 'seen' wyldwytch for a couple days, maybe something came up she had to tend to. Let's be patient and I'm sure she'll check in soon. Good time to catch up if needed.
