Here's my half done block. I had it completed but I had cut the last two pieces of the gold inset fabric too short and didn't see it until too late. Jack the Ripper and I had a date. I may do it over as there are a few points that will be lost. Will do it after class tom. and post completed block.

Love the colours.

coastienest 09-01-2010 04:41 AM

Beautiful, beautiful !!!

Ducky 09-01-2010 06:16 AM

Oh, wvdek, that is just beautiful!! I love the fabrics you chose. Looking at yours got me to thinking of redoing mine to incorporate more than just the two colors.

wvdek 09-01-2010 06:44 AM

Thanks Ducky, but I thought yours was lovely. Sometimes I think I use too many colors. Go figure.

Ducky, question. How did you get the word 'beautiful' to be italicized? I have tried to no avail to get words underlined, bold, etc. at according to chart at left and no luck. Well, time to go to school ya all. Bye.

beachlady 09-01-2010 07:08 AM

Both are so nice!! Mine is half done too - hope to finish today. I love the use of more colors. Doing mine for a blue and white 'something' I am making.

Put [ i ] (without spaces) before the word or words to be italicized, then [ / i ] (without spaces) right after that word/words. For underlining or bold, you replace the i with either b or u. Have a great day

Those are both just gorgeous ... I love that block and the fabrics you have chosen are beautiful!

I am posting my Mother's block (handquilter) for her. She is not able to do paper pieceing, but loves to join in with all of us. So here is her choice for a pattern.

Sulabug I really like your block!! That pink fabric added to the Zinnia really makes that look like it is spinning!! Really cool look!

beachlady 09-03-2010 04:45 PM

Great block Sula! Love your fabric. Bless your mother! Love her fabric too. (How old is she?)

Mine is done, but haven't taken a pix yet - will post tomorrow.

Beachlady,
Thank you for the nice comments on both my Mother's block & mine. My Mother is 86 & she sews all of her blocks together by hand. I am so proud of her & feel so very lucky to still have her with me!!

Yes, I feel so happy that my Mother & I can still be together. We always sew together every Wednesday. I look forward to each & every week with great anticipation!!

Sula, your block is just wonderful! It's pieced just perfectly! Bravo!!!!!!

Your mother's block is beautiful, too! Really, had I paid attention and known she was joining along, I wouldn't have chosen a paper pieced block.

Ducky,
It's okay that you chose a paper pieced pattern. My Mother joined along in January & she will make the ones that she can, but when she can't, she loves to pick out her own pattern & still participate. Thank you for your kind comment on my block!! I am very happy with it, too!!

Here is my block. For some reason, this one took forever to finish, couldn't stay focused on it. Was such a relief when it was finally done!

Everyone else is doing such a great job on theirs! Congrats to all that have finished them.
