I have been so busy lately I haven't had a chance to post, but have sure enjoyed seeing everyone's blocks. I almost have my second October block finished and will hopefully post all of them either today or tomorrow. Everyone has been doing such a great job on their blocks such wonderful eye candy to look forward to every day and enjoy seeing the process each is taking on their journey to completion.

Just got caught up on all the beautiful blocks posted. Wow!! Picking colors is the most difficult part of quilting for me. Thank you for posting all of yours--they are educational and inspirational!

Here's SYE#4:

And here are all four. Block #1 is about 3/4 to 1" smaller than the others. Hmm, wonder what I did wrong?

Oh Jan that cool block is just what those other blocks needed. :) Lovely!

JeanieG 10-20-2013 11:06 AM

Oh WOW Jan, I love those turquoise blue Batiks! (Your favorite color.) The four look great together. The first one may have been a printer problem! :(

kwiltkrazy 10-20-2013 01:04 PM

Jan they are outstanding! Love blue, but hate working with just blue.

candi 10-20-2013 01:50 PM

More beautiful blocks. I am loving this!

dutchie 10-20-2013 02:35 PM

Jan, you batik blocks are luscious!

moonwork42029 10-20-2013 08:57 PM

Dutchie...you broke your cat...didn't the assembly directions come with it?

dublb 10-20-2013 09:24 PM

rotflol!!!!!

I'm frustrated! I keep makin' this capitalized & it post in small letters.
:confused::eek::confused:

gardnergal970 10-21-2013 04:27 AM

Jan...love how your star is such a beautiful 3D. Someone else mentioned that their first block was a bit smaller too.

dutchie 10-21-2013 09:09 AM

Moonwork - this is 2Z (TwoZee) being a silly boy. He's not broken just bent. This is his favorite "Look-At-Me-Mom-I'm-Cute" position. Works every time!

He's one of two Quilt Inspectors that help me sew.

Now that's just too purdy!

janRN 10-21-2013 05:05 PM

Roma, by putting the black around the diamonds you've made it look like a different block. I love it. So clever--I learn so much each time I look at everyone's color choices and placement.

. I agree with Jan. Your star looks so complete and not dislocated starts like mine is. Really like it.

kwiltkrazy 10-21-2013 07:45 PM

Roma-wonderful block.

Roma Bauder 10-22-2013 08:36 AM

I 'm not sure I like it tho . But thanks

QuiltingNinaSue 10-22-2013 12:12 PM

If you do not like it, Roma, make another one. I have made more than one of a couple of mine, and still trying to decide which one I like the best. You can make as many as you want from each pattern in different colors, and that is the best thing about SYE...you select and choose your own colors for the pattern. You are the important one to be pleased with the results of your labor. Each to his/her own, sometimes we are too hard on our selves.

I am so glad everyone is 'designing' their own SYE blocks, I can look and see what pleases my eye and what does not work for me. I can still admire and appreciate their work, and hope it pleases them. If they were all the same, it would be very boring, opposed to how refreshing and wonderful each block is to the rest of us. None are done wrong, they are all right to our eye(s).

Here is my next one! I just love to see what everyone puts together. I have made no.5 and can't decide if I like it, but think it will probably blend in well when I see more of them all together.

jillnjo 10-22-2013 01:19 PM

OOPS, sorry about that last photo, I thought it was deleted! And now I can't figure out how to delete it .

JeanieG 10-22-2013 01:44 PM

Jillnjo - those are just spectacular. I really like the batiks you have used!

QuiltingNinaSue 10-22-2013 01:49 PM

I am happy you did not delete that last one; it gives a close up look at beautiful work and love the fabrics. All are very nice and lovely use of color and the stitching looks 'right' on point. Good job!!!

candi 10-22-2013 03:30 PM

Jill, wonderful blocks! I love the colors and have a few if the batiks you used in my stash :) isn't fun to see your fabric in someone else's stash? Haha

Rose, looking great! And hopefully the stain will come out in the wash, I think it will.

http://www.quiltingonthesquare.com/s...urenglish.aspx
The blocks for April & May are the Sept blocks. The next 2 are for Oct then the next 2 will be for Nov....ect.

kwiltkrazy 10-23-2013 03:27 AM

wow, spectacular blocks guys.

gardnergal970 10-23-2013 04:32 AM

What a palette of colors and designs. You would think that we were using a different pattern the way the colors change the appearance! Rose rips, your stars are bold and beautiful, no doubt of them being there. Jeanie and Jill, some of your points float like I'm doing mine and now it changes the look.
Jeanie I agree that there is a lot of fabric in some of the seams. Maybe Mirabelle will have some tips on quilting them so we don't break a needle.

Honchey 10-23-2013 05:44 AM

Pretty blocks JeanieG..:) Using the pink fabric pulls all four together...

janRN 10-23-2013 08:22 AM

Ggal, you mean we're supposed to quilt these? Mine will probably end up in The Box and I'll mail 'em to you next year. Just kidding (I think)!!!

These blocks and fabric choices you are all making just keep amazing me. I couldn't pick a favorite if I tried!

roserips 10-23-2013 10:48 AM

dublb you are the most awesome cheer leader thank-you for all of the encouragement.
