Anael, I am planning on using the black/white with different accent colors, I also have my second block done.
Wow, everyone's block is so different but so pretty, we will be making a big splash with these blocks.

bj 09-03-2013 12:57 PM

All I can say is WOW! Thank goodness I don't have to try to pick a favorite. It would be an impossible task. They're all gorgeous! Good job ladies.

I picked fabric, but now after looking at all these beauties, I am second guessing myself.

marne I'm sure the fabric you have chosen is just great--so don't be afraid to go with what you have picked. I'm inspired to go get mine started. Wish me luck.

My block is slowly taking shape; had to quit on it today, so only finished one more division...makes three now,so guess I am half way. Loved all the 'eye' candy; Wow and double wow. Neat, beautiful, and look perfect in every way.

Wow beautiful eye candy this morning, here is my first block. I am using the same green and main fabric throughout and the same setting triangle fabric, just changing up the colour combo a little.. Fabric compliments of my DD:D

ann clare 09-03-2013 01:41 PM

WOW. Such beautiful blocks. Love them all.

I love, love , love everyone's that has been posted not a one in the bunch that I would not like to own. They all are so beautiful and unique to each individual.

Here is my 1st block have not added the sides to make it a rectangle as not sure what color I want to use may wait till the end to make a decision on that part. Sticking with the suggested colors at this point the really dark color is actually purple but at least on my monitor it looks almost dark blue or even black.

Ok ... here's mine. Soooo different from the others. Can you tell I have a weakness for prints with gold??? You cant' see it in this pic, but even the green fabric has gold edging on each "branch"

I'll be using the same background fabric, and the same green fabric for the "leaf" part in all the blocks. As you can see I changed the color between each of the flowers to the leaf fabric to look like stems. I fussy cut medallions for the center of the flower. Fussy cutting is not so much fun when paper piecing!!

JeanieG 09-03-2013 04:44 PM

Oh, three more beautiful blocks! Keep them coming everyone!!!

janRN 09-03-2013 05:13 PM

What a great "block show". I love all of them--each one is so unique. Now I can't wait to see more!!

Oh so pretty in the 1930's dungeonquilter. Another parade of beautiful blocks, keep them coming there should be lots more yet:D

Jannie 09-03-2013 07:12 PM

It is amazing that the same pattern was used on all these blocks but each one is so unique. Not sure I could say which one is my favorite. I hope I can find time to join in on this.

I really like the same color o' your settin' triangles bein' in the actual block. It is so unitin'.

Oh! ckcowl I'm in love w/the blue & how it accents your block! :)

Here's my first block. Can you believe I created an inset seam for myself. Sometimes I TRY to make my life harder. :D You can bet I won't do that again.

Anyway, I tested it with my dinner plates and it should be the perfect size without adding anymore to the edges other than the binding, which I will do in black. I usually bite off more than I can chew, so this is really fun making something manageable! Can't wait to do my next placemat.

QNS I should be doing it your way and I would've hopefully avoided my mistake (see above). Can't wait to see yours. :)

mirabelle 09-04-2013 03:55 AM

Beautiful block CindyA, the black binding will certainly make it pop.

Honchey 09-04-2013 04:37 AM

Oh MY!!!!!! What do we have here????
We arrived safe & sound & earlier than expected ....so Guess what QuiltE??? I went to Bingo!!! Just woke up... I am having my coffee and I'm looking at all these Gorgeous blocks!!!! Have to go to the store to pick up some milk etc, so I will check in later to really look thru all the pages better...one day..7 pages...Yikes!!! Is this fun or what!!!

carriem 09-04-2013 04:43 AM

Dublb does such a great job complimenting each block...I will just echo her sentiments. :) Everyone has done such a great job. I can't wait to see some more.

So far 14 have been posted. What was the unofficial count last time? 50 some? Lots more eye candy to come!

QuiltingNinaSue 09-04-2013 05:01 AM

Success this morning, got the machine threaded finally! Challenge of impaired vision...getting the thread in the right channel before I can sew. Onward! Have a great day.

Yes, Cindy, I will be happy if mine turns out as good as yours. Lots of beautiful work here and beautiful colors, looking forward to seeing more. It does take a mite of time for each slice/section of the 'pizza' block...at least for me. Measurements from Mirabelle really truly helps. Thank you Mirabelle.

oksewglad 09-04-2013 07:51 AM

You are so right QNS! The measurements are a Godsend. What I started last night was to sew all 6 sections at a time and. So I'm repeating the same step 6 times. No all my slices didn't get done but I think this is going faster than if I did each slice before moving onto the next.

CindyA your block was the first thing that greeted me when I opened the thread and all I could say was "Oh". The block reminds me of calla lilies. You are going to have a beautiful set of place mats. You might want to run out and buy clear dishes and eat no food from them.:D

Everyone's blocks are so beautiful.

Speaking of QE--poor girl she's going to spend hours catching up on what she's missed!

happy grandma 09-04-2013 09:18 AM

I thought of candles not flowers. Fussy cut the blue print to form the "candle" then the flame and the softer light surrounding it. Using the blue print as the outer border of this table runner after a blue narrow border.

carriem 09-04-2013 04:07 PM

OK--I really like your fussy cutting/kaleidoscope effect.

Welcome aboard happy grandma, we started a chat regarding these blocks and as QuiltingNinaSue said they can be downloaded from Quilting on the Square, free which is a bonus.

kwiltkrazy 09-04-2013 06:33 PM

oh the blocks are just gorgeous! Hopefully will post mine tomorrow night. We have to go to the big city tomorrow, and I will pick up batteries, and not forget to turn off my camera.

I need help. Do we leave paper on our pieces or take it off when we put are block together and if we leave the paper on what is the best way to get all the paper off. Thanks for your help

JeanieG 09-04-2013 07:25 PM

JuanitaBean - I print my patterns on newsprint. I purchased 2 reams from Dick Blick website(shipping was the same for 2 reams as 1), and it runs right through my printer just fine. Before I got the reams, I used dollar store Scribble Pads and cut them 8 1/2 x 11. I use a 1.5" stitch length and it is no problem removing the paper. I do not remove the paper until the whole block is pieced together. I know others do it differently, so you will just have to experiment and find the way you like best. Just like everything else, there are many different ways to do the same thing!

I do not know about everyone else but this is the way I am doing these blocks: I am removing the paper after I have sewn each pie section before sewing each individual pie piece to the other. I just rip them off by section starting along the edges if they are being difficult I have small tweezers or a thing called purple thing that I can lift up the edges without poking a hole in the fabric.
