    It's finished!!!!

Well...after several days of headaches I was finally able to get to "the clubhouse" (my sewing shed) to finish my Rosie quilt! DH just got home from work as I finished and I needed to get inside so the picture isn't the best (didn't have time to hang nicely), but since most saw the blocks as I finished each one you know what they look like close up. I used a zig-zag SITD in the blocks and to finish the binding.

CarrieM ... it's absolutely stunning! So fresh looking in the middle of winter, to give us hopes of spring to come. Will be a perfect year round quilt.

D_Damsel--I was originally going to use batiks for this quilt but just couldn't find a good background fabric to contrast with the other fabrics I chose. So one day when I was at work (at LQS) I spotted the black floral print and went from that to choose the other colors. Usually I don't choose fabrics with a black background so it wasn't even an area I looked at early on! We had some of the fabrics from the same line but not enough contrast so started looking around the shop....The pink and red fabrics are from the "reproductions" room. I think the yellow is a "fusions". The green could have gone dark or light and I usually go dark, so thought I would mix things up and go bright.

This was one of those quilts that I changed my mind on how it was "going to be" several times. DH helped decide on the green for the outer border...I had bought extra thinking originally to use it for the setting triangles then went with the black for that instead so wasn't sure on the borders. I am happy with the end results.

... and here I thought that the starting point was the black fabric!
Isn't it funny how sometimes the fabric or colour we avoid ... creates something wonderful that we love.

It's good to move beyond our comfort zone and look what it did this time. I think what's attracted me to your fabrics all along was that they were bright not loud, with a certain softness to them. So lovely!

Ladies, all of your quilts are spectacular. I'm sorry I haven't participated much in the chatter but I'm trying to get my mother's house sold, had frozen pipe burst and flood basement, finished FWS Pony Club quilt, and finished Rosie. It's not quilted yet because I still need tons of practice for FMQ but it WILL get quilted. Thank you for letting me join you on this journey and thanks for all the inspriation. I'm so anxious to try out some of the color combos/fabrics that you've shown--things that I had no interest in before seeing all your lovely work.Name: Rosie Quilt.jpg

We really do seem to share a brain, don't we, DDamsel?

JanRN ... OMG ... stunning!! And to think you thhought you HAD to use black for everything; hated PPing; and are anti-yellow (OK, no yellow, but a yellow colour with that gold). You're amazing!

Thank you all so much for your kind comments. You were all so encouraging while we worked together on these blocks. I still don't have it quilted. My Sweet16 is in my sun porch and since we haven't seen any sun around here in over a month I haven't worked out there. Until I purchase a couple of lamps (or the sun ever comes out) quilting is on hold.
Thank you all again for the compliments.

Patti has been working on the last of her Rosie blocks and I finally got to her house to take the pictures of all of the blocks. Patti has been slowly moving her sewing space to another room in her home and what a difference the new space will make! Patti and I liked the idea of taking pictures with ourselves and our quilts when they get finished. Patricia Faye and Almond are wonderful examples! Thanks, girls! Here are Patti's latest pictures.

Judith, Patti's blocks are beautiful & are going to make a beautiful quilt. Yes, be sure to take a picture of yourselves with your quilts. We want to see both!

You can come help me in my sewing room?
