    Hi,

He is on rejection meds the rest of his life.

He has been blessed and hasn't been sick very often

just common colds, gallbladder surger and this year was the staph infection

but had nothing to do with the transplants

Does he have any restrictions because of them? Anything extra he must do to maintain them?

    Thanks Everyone

I took him out to "Texas Roadhouse" and he got his favorite

fried catfish, baked potato, salad and sprite

I ate salmon, bake sweet potato, salad and coke

We had a nice time and was fun getting out of house. Our dog was upset with us when we got home since we left him home alone!

Thank you for sharing such a WONDERFUL story. You, as his caregiver and lifetime partner, certainly faced many stressful moments during that period. I'm sure he has expressed many times that he couldn't have done it without you. May you two be richly blessed for many years to come.

Karen, so happy for you both. Has all the infection gone and is he back on his feet again after the last problems?
Hope he is well. I know it was hard for you both.

Congratulations to you both I am an operating room nurse and have been involved in countless transplants; kidney, pancreas, heart, lung and liver. I is so good to hear how lives are changed by what we do every day. My best wishes.

    Congrats!

It's so good to hear this! My brother was a donor when he died at 13. It helped to know his death was able to help others hopefully have a better life.

What a great day to celebrate. He was a severe diabetic since he was in 4th grade and was on 3 shots of insulin a day.

In 1989 both kidneys failed and was on home dialysis for 1 year and still worked a full time job

On September 18, 1990 he got a new chance in life! He got a new kidney and pancreas transplant at Indianapolis, Indiana.

He is no longer a diabetic and no longer on insulin!

He was one of the patients that made history for Methodist Hospital as the did the following transplants within 24 hours at the hospital and cancelled all other surgeries

    1. my hubby got kidney and pancreas
    2. guy got other kidney
    3. guy got heart
    4. lady got lung
    5. another lady got lung

all of these organs from the same donor (he was drinking and riding his motorcyle and was brain dead) we are so thankful that he donated his organs for others

also skin, eyes, bone marrow was donated to other hospitals

(when the donor, Peter got his drivers license he told his parents he wanted to be an organ donor) we are so blessed that he was as he has helped out alot of patients
WOW! talk about doing a happy dance. I couldn't be happier for you both. God Bless both of you although He already seems to be doing just that. Time to celebrate !!! Love and Hugs!
