What a great day to celebrate. He was a severe diabetic since he was in 4th grade and was on 3 shots of insulin a day.
In 1989 both kidneys failed and was on home dialysis for 1 year and still worked a full time job
On September 18, 1990 he got a new chance in life! He got a new kidney and pancreas transplant at Indianapolis, Indiana.
He is no longer a diabetic and no longer on insulin!
He was one of the patients that made history for Methodist Hospital as the did the following transplants within 24 hours at the hospital and cancelled all other surgeries
1. my hubby got kidney and pancreas
2. guy got other kidney
3. guy got heart
4. lady got lung
5. another lady got lung
all of these organs from the same donor (he was drinking and riding his motorcyle and was brain dead) we are so thankful that he donated his organs for others
also skin, eyes, bone marrow was donated to other hospitals
(when the donor, Peter got his drivers license he told his parents he wanted to be an organ donor) we are so blessed that he was as he has helped out alot of patients
