All those hand-made Cards

All those hand-made Cards
My youngest son (28) couldn't make it home for Mother's Day so we chatted a bit on line. I commented how I miss those handmade cards with too much glue and mis-cut hearts. He scoffed at the ides they were improtant. I pointed out to him that I still have a multi-page card he and his brother made shortly after their new Step Dad moved in with us. It was the funniest, yet sweetest way for them to let me know they were happy with my choice. Now why WOULDN'T I keep that card forever.

I agree. My one grandson 6Yrs old and until this past winter had always lived in my house so we are very close is finally old enough to write in his cards. Some I understand and some not. He wrote in my card that I should move out of my house. I asked where should I move and he replied "into our house" I told him that would be really crowded and then pointed out that he'd have no place to go visit if I moved in. He said "OH". He's at my house a few days a week for sleep overs on my days off. It's good when your kids grow up and then the grandkids can give you what you enjoyed from your kids.

One of these days when I'm dead and gone, dd will going through all my dresser draws and will find all the notes and cards that she gave me throughout the years. She'll be surprized that her gruff old dad has a drawer full too.

I have an ancient piece of paper that DD "made" me when she was 5. I had to have surgery & she draw me a picture ("a potato & a pear", she told me -- don't ask me why she chose that to draw... LOL!) & wrote underneath "I hope you are felling better". It became a family joke when anyone was under the weather... "I hope you're felling better". It was so sweet!

My 28 year old daughter sent me a handmade card for Mothers Day. I will treasure it for years.

My friends sent me Mothers Day cards this year after our youngest died in November-our oldest didn't acknowledge the day-so I read one from our youngest from last year-it is special, and intend to keep it for her son to see someday, that his Mother was considerate and loving-our mementos and memories are all we have as Moms and Grandmothers
