Anyone familiar with how AA works?

"I live in the middle of nowhere and the meetings are so far away" "my car won't start" "my sponsor won't contact me" etc - Yes, she needs to go, but there are always excuses.
I do appreciate the support and help - but if I don't reply for a bit it's only because I need to get this off my mind for a bit. I can only handle it for so long and then feel the need to run back into my life - and close the door for a while. Maybe I'll go sew.... and read about what to do with layer cakes. Something light and cheery. ;-)

AA and Al-Anon are both great programs who will make themselves available to anyone who needs help and are all over the world. It is not "religion" based; just based on believing in a higher power. I have been to both and I am not a drinker; but it has affected my life in the past. They provide help to the drinker and/or the family member/friend who is being affected by the drinker's behaviors. Our job is to love them; but we do not have to condone or enable their bad behaviors. I really hope you do reach out and find peace for yourself, even if sister doesn't accept the help for herself. Good luck and Take care.
