Check this link:

Marysville is north of Sacramento in the Sacramento River Valley / northern CA, west of the Sierra Nevada. It's located a nice day's drive to the northern portion of the California Gold Rush country.

NOTE: VERY WARM and DRY in the summer / no rain. However, because of the dynamic between the Pacific Ocean, the delta (where the Sacramento River and the San Joaquin River meet, creating a wonderfully diverse ecosystem of plants and animals), and the Central Valley, mornings can be very foggy...until the sun burns off the fog. Climate wise, the valley is a desert, but with irrigation, agriculture developed, so it is green. However, don't expect any summer showers. Winters are mild, low temps will be in the high 30's / low 40's. However, winter is the rainy season...and rain it does. No snow. Winter rains bring fog.

Summer temps will be in the mid-to-high 90's with some days @ 105 - 115. The really hot month is September. Whew! Autumn and spring are absolutely delightful. Wildflowers dot the landscape, trees bloom, and the river is great!

Enjoy!

Pat was in the 940th for his AF Reserve duty at Beale for YEARS. Are there any specifics you'd like to know?

BTW, and I apologize for not "saying" this, but THANK YOU !! to your daughter (DAU) for her service to our country. It's heroes such as she who protect our life, liberty, and stand between us and those who gleefully threaten it.

When looking for housing, what are the areas/neighborhoods to avoid? Is the area considered military friendly? What are the names of the local newspapers?

You could do a Google search on all those questions, call the Marysville Chamber of Commerce, get a map and look at the names of surrounding communities, do a Google search on those, check US census records for the communities you see on the map (census records provide demographic information), check the local law enforcement web sites for crime information. Answers to your questions are on the internet. You just have to be creative and search.

Start with a map of California (you can find appropriate maps on the internet), identify the Marysville area (surrounding towns and County), and do your searches accordingly.
