We have a drawer. screw driver..pliers...hammer...kitchen
sissors, glue, clips for chips...etc...etc. When it gets
where we have trouble closing it, we clean it out together so that we don't throw away each other's good junk. However, we don't use the 'j' word..we just call it "the drawer". Everybody's gotta have one!!

LOL, it became sort of a of tradition. One year, mom's son-in-law was THE one. And he hated it! Yes, mom cleaned them out several times, but they always filled back up. It was kinda sad when we cleaned them out for the last time after the parents were both gone. We siblings all paused to remember our times together as a big family.

When I was growing up, we had those old covered glass "refridgerator" dishes for junk. I think mom still uses one for junk. The other one I stole and it is now a butter dish.

I grew up with a junk drawer in our house. I thought it was mandatory to have one in everyone's house.

I was born in 1946 and at first didn't remember having a "junk bowl". But someone mentioned a wooden bowl? That was our junk bowl; it was wooden and had a few things in it. We wern't poor, but definetly not rich, so didn't have a lot of extra stuff like everyone has now a days. Thanks for the memories!

We had a small metal cabinet in the kitchen with a drawer in the top. EVERYTHING that did not have a standard spot in the house fit into that drawer. My mom still has the cabinet but it has been delegated to the garage. Think I will check out whats in it the next time I visit.

My mom had a ceramic chicken, it looked like it was intended to be a planter, about 10". Whenever we asked mom for a needle and thread (or other little things) we were told "look in the chicken". It makes me smile to think of the chicken dish, thanks for posting this.

I have several junk drawers and a junk bowl on the island in the kitchen. Well, it's really a fruit bowl , but junk ends up in there also. LOL
