Default Appliance shops in Canada

Hi My Grand daughter who is from Australia is spending a year in Canada, she is feeling the cold so much her mother would like to buy her a Electric Blanket. I live in New Zealand, so I am of no help but we are looking for a appliance in Calgery to save on the postage.
Could any of you lovely Canadian ladies help us come up with A retailer
Thank you in advance
Dale (Kamaia's Nan )

Have you tried Amazon or Google or Ebay to find one.

I'm not from Calgary ... though Sears is a reliable national store which sells most things your daughter might need while she is here.

Here's the selection of electric blankets online (in-store there may be more or different ones).

And a listing of their Calgary locations.

Another suggestion to keep her warm while outside, would be a long down coat.
Truly light as a feather, but oh so warm!

Do hope your Grandaughter is enjoying her time here!
(despite her being cold! )

London Drugs carries electric blankets from a throw size to queen, the queen is on sale for $100 right now. www.londondrugs.com I checked and there are 8 stores in Calgary so one of them must be close to where she is living.

Perhaps your DGD needs a quilt to memorialize her year in Canada ....

This is a wonderful fabric line ... and a great LQS to deal with!

Welcome to your grand daughter. I'm sure it will take a little while for her to get used to the cold. However, be assured that we Canadians have never let a person from a warm climate freeze. I'm sure that she has found new friends/acquaintances who are giving her hints about how to stay warm. It takes us awhile to get into the groove at the beginning of each winter.

If she is really all the time (inside and out) she should think about long underwear. Almost any major department store has it (Sears, Walmart, the Bay, Marks Work Warehouse) will have them. Layers. She needs to dress in layers. They don't have to be thick layers, but layers are the best. You can add or subtract sweaters, etc. depending on the temperature and how you feel that day.

Thank you every one for your helpful suggestions, she is a wonderful GD, she is working two jobs, to try and make ends meet, and I am sure she will get climatised. I would love to make her a quilt, but she has to keep in mind when flying back to Australia, she has a weight restriction, You have me thinking that I could make a Canadian Quilt and have it ready when she returns after a year.
Might I had, I am envious of her I would Love to visit your beautiful country, so different from New Zealand.

That would be a great Welcome Home for her ... we could all help you out with Canadian Quilt ideas!

So in working two jobs, is she just here for a year of experience?
Or are the jobs contributing to experience to a particular career choice?
How did she pick Calgary?
