I know this may seem like an obvious answer to an obvious question but...... What is the purpose of the live chat and what is it's benefit? I have a few times " popped in" but can't understand where it is going so I pop back out. Seems like a lot of people talking at the same time. Can anyone explain why they like it and it's purpose?

They like being to talk to folks in real time. Like chatting. It is hard when there are a bunch of people in there, it's hard to keep track of conversations. A lot will be in chat while they are doing some hand sewing or something like that.

I think everyone uses it differesntly but for me its a way to actually "chat" with people in more of a comversational way. it can go fast or slow depending on how many people are in there and what they are talking about. You can ask questions and get answers right away. You can chat about almost anything. It is another way to get to know the people on the board. you can jump in and chat or you can just sit back and follow what is being discussed. Sorry so long

It is an easy way to get to actually know some of the other members, there is usually someone in there and if you want a real time back and forth conversation if you have a problem you can usually be talked through it faster then messaging here, And then they have social conversations as well, but you are always welcome to ask any quilting question at any time, the conversations tend to flow back and forth, it can be fun.

Everything from A to Z is talked about in chat. Don't believe me? Sit in for about an hour. Of course we will talk quilting, but life isnt all quilting, is it? We are all different people from different walks of life and we share our differences. We are a family here on the board and being in chat is like a family meeting, so to speak. We laugh and cry in there. We have fun. I have at some times, gone into chat only to emerge 6 hours later and my house is still a mess, I'm still in my pjs and NOTHING has been taken out for dinner. It's an escape at times.
In a nutshell? CHAT IS FUN!

I like chatting especially when i have a quilting questions in this moment, i need the answer. I used it twice now and its useful i feel like i open the dictionary and find the meaning of the word in mind.
It's technology, it's live.

I have gone in with questions to quilt problems I was having immediately and boy did it help. Its faster than posting and sometimes someone can talk you through things that you simply cant get reading. The rest of the time its just to say hi, reachout a bit to others with at least one thing in common with you and learn a bit about who everyone is. Not a bad thing at all.

I like to go into chat to talk to real people in real time. Yes, sometimes there are several conversations going on at once but that's part of the fun. I challenge you to go in and "talk" or just sit and "listen" -- I think you'll like it!! :D
