it's a great way to get to know our friends on this board, in real time. i love to chat and know what my friends are doing. sometimes the chat does go fast but not all of the time. we usually try to stick to a regular conversation but often times there are so many ppl in there that there does get to be a few conversations going on at the same time!!! try it a few more times, i think you'll really enjoy it

Ineal, first off...your banana split looks so yummy, but how distracting lol...I'm trying to shed a few...
Chat can be like your banana split:
if you only try it once, you might say, well there's a lot to it, and I don't seem able to take it all in.
But try it more than once and get the taste for it...and your hooked. Especially if you have high speed, which I don't...so I dont venture in as often as I would like.
Also, the more you join in, the quicker you get over that feeling we ALL have: like your intruding, or nobody cares what your saying, or thinking it sounds dumb.
We all have those feelings just a bit, early on...but truly, you will learn in time, nobody is thinking those things about anyone.
Now, if your not gonna eat that... :-P

That is a good way to put it . First I thought I was just secretly peeking and then someone piped up and said "hi lneal"
LOL!! Which I replied "hi everyone" You can tell I have not done chats before. I will say there were about 16 people on at one time and it was fast and hard for me to follow.
Banana Splits!! YUMMY! Crazy, but I'm trying to shed a few too.... trying out Lorettas receipe for slimming soup!

I like it because I feel like we are in the same room. I know if there are a lot of folks on at once, it may seem confusing, but if you just jump with a simple "Hi" or "Hey what is everyone working on just now" you will have them answering you directly and feel more involved.

It is over whelming at first but once you get into the conversation or just read along it's great. I have had several questions answered and help from alot of the ladies in there. It's just great I think

If you are talking about really live, not responding whenever, like here, I tried it once. I was writing an email when all of a sudden a box popped up and my daughter, away at college, wrote, Hi Mom, I see you are online, do you want to chat? If you ask me, it was a disaster with the delays between answers. I really didn't get the hang of it. I ended up calling her and telling her I prefer the phone!

I was talking about Walmart on one of the other sites just a little while ago and I started really thinking about how if we don't start supporting our own little shops, they are all going to be eaten up by the Walmarts. They (Walmart's etc.) all start out by offering the things that they find that the women of the house are starting to really spend alot of money on. They start offering almost the same stuff at bigger and better prices so that we all start buying at them and the locals can't do it. Then slowly but surely they start dropping the items until we can't find because they don't carry it anymore. We're sunk then because our quilting shops and sewing and fabric shops have gone out of business. Then we are angry. At who? Well, it should be at ourselves, but actually we've only been trying to get something enjoyable to do at low prices. Otherwise we might not be able to afford it. I started saving and buying all the little things I possibly can while saving for the big purchases from my two favorite quilt stores locally to me. I make an effort when I'm out of town to find a quilt store and purchase something there also. It may not be much, but I'm trying to support them. I want them to be here and besides the clerk from the other forum was right; Walmart's fabric is cheap because it's from China. What would you expect. Now that I've jumped off the nearest roof and vented the pipes, I'll get to something else, a baby memory quilt that is about to cause me to hyperventilate. I've been working so hard on this. I designed it and I have sewin it by hand putting the top together. I think I may be able to get the first border on and possibly the 2nd one on too, tomorrow. I'm doing this quilt all by hand because it is made from all those baby clothes that stretch and no matter what, it is just easier to sew it by hand. I think? I've done alot of embroidery by hand also---- on these little teddy bears I drew up for this quilt. It is a memory quilt sort of, made of bits and pieces of clothing this child wore the first 9 mos of his life. Most are expensive clothes and she wanted just some parts of the outfit displayed. I had no plan or colors or anything from her except she wanted this little horse from this one outfit in the center of the quilt. I've really struggled worrying about if she was going to like it or not, but I took it with me at Christmas to Texas so my family could look at it and Mom could tell me what she thought. My mother will tell you the truth no matter what, so I knew she'd be honest. She was totally wowed so now I'm ready to go and finish it. Wow, I've started a whole new deal here. Sorry, I'm so happy that I can talk to people again even if I don't really know anyone yet and it's done this way. Yeah!!!! Quilt today for tomorrow you can quilt some more. Bethy

Bethy, I'm glad you feel like sharing with us. I'm an almost shut-in so consider this to be my Quilting Club and it's full of friends. Don't be afraid to start your own topic... believe me, you will get responses!

This one isn't for Invitation only? Yipes, I guess I screwed up! Thanks Cathy for the support. I'm snowed in here in Indiana. I live in the country, what a white out. It can be beautiful, but it is hard for me to get out in this weather. Just life! When I hit the lottery or win that house HGTV is giving away this year, is life ever going to be a dream or maybe that's what I'm doing now.
