I read the info, sounds like what my GP called a synovial cyst behind my knee. Boy did that hurt!! Came up over night it seemed, couldn"t move my leg sideways and could hardly stand to walk. Had a MRI, then arthroscopic surgery. I had torn cartilage plus arthritis in that knee, but had not had much pain, just once in awhile it seemed to grab and hurt. Surgery removed all the cartalige plus scraping the bones to smooth them out. Lots of pain afterwards, and now almost constant pain in the knee. Nothing else was given as an option, surgery was done as out-patient.

that is what happened with me too. Before it was just a hurt that came and left, I guess that was the arthritis, But after the surgery it is constant hurt. Have to use a cane when walking more than just around the house, and it is affecting my left hip( opposite side). Now it is looking like replacement on both and I'm not sure I want to go the route. I"d avoid surgery on the knee if I could do it over again!!
I didn't have any kind of cyst, but, I had the back of my left knee scraped arthroscopic and have had pain ever since. Doctor wanted to do the right knee also, I decided it didn't hurt why do it. I don't have much pain with that knee. I had the left one done about 10 yr.s ago. More pain than before.
