Where we lived, these on the barns were called Hex signs, and they were for protection/good luck. They were a little more elaborate than just quilt squares and were mostly round. Different symbols meant different things. Like some had birds, some had plants, some just symbols/shapes, etc.

Gosh, I wish my real fabric blocks looked that good. It's beautiful at your front door & I love all the others that you made also.
