Right on! We do something similar, pulling our out from the garage onto pavement. And, this was before all the fires. Like I said, who knew just how dangerous BBQs can be?!

Thank you for the heads up. Not on the porch but by the back of the house. I iwll get dH to move it away as I could imagine the same issues. thanks!

If my post helps one person, then I'm happy! BBQs are one of those things most of us have and, over time, become almost invisible because they're always there. We stop thinking about the dangers.

Thank you for the reminder/warning :D:D:D
There are many fires out here every spring thru fall due to BBQ's too.
Gas, wood or charcoal... It can happen with them all.

Thanks for the warning. I will suggest to hubby that he move the grill a little farther away from the house on those few occasions we do grill.

Mine is outside on the concrete patio. When I use it, I move it to the backside of the patio, as you aren't supposed to use them next to the house.

Here, they can not have BBQ grills on the decks outside apartments. And that is the reason why. I use mine on a concrete slab outside the back door.

I agree! Be careful where you put your grill. Check with your local fire department about what the codes are in your town or area. In my town, a few years back, a tank blew on a grill on the second floor deck in an apartment complex. Huge fire because no one was home at the time. The grill was not supposed to be on the deck. Lots of people were displaced by the fire, though, fortunately, no one was hurt. The fire department went around the very next day to all apartment complexes and where they found a grill on a deck, they told the owners to remove it or they will be fined. It really is dangerous to have them too close to any structure.

Had one of those cases this past week in Des Moines, IA. No one hurt but the entire apartment building lost in the fire when the gas tank on the grill exploded. Scary thought and they are going to be re-thinking the codes about grills.
