Welcome to the Quilting Board!

Thanks to everyone for your input. It has been helpful. I will be on the lookout when we travel.
There was a store in Evansville that closed, but there appears to be another one in a different area of Evansville. I need to check it out, as that is where our family lives.
One problem with the internet is that a lot of closed stores are still being listed as open. I will just have to call each one in places we are visiting to see if they are open. I am really excited about finding them again!
Thanks again,
Phyllis

Greenfield Ohio and Carolton Ohio are two that I know of . The one in greenfield is combined in a grocery store but they have lots of fabric and such I visit there often . The one in Carolton Ohio is your old fashioned store , like stepping back in time , old wood floors that creek when you walk, bulk candy counters and all . So many things you would never find in regular chain stores .I went there as a child with my grandma it was always a huge treat to go , when she passed two years ago I went to " town" for old times sake because knew I would never travel up there again . I spent several hours in the old Ben Franklin store that was exactly as I remembered it was 40 years ago .
"Ben Franklins" (that I know) are in Amherst, Ohio (NO fabric); and in Oberlin, Ohio - VERY nice fabric department of flatfolds...no frills and much more economical than JoAnns or LQS. A new gal took over that dept. and last I was there a couple months ago, I was very impressed.

We have one in Raymond, NH that I stop in once in a while. Lots of fabric, lots of hardware (for DH to look at). Neat store. Miss the one that used to be in Milford, NH.
Another store on this idea is Marden's. They are only in Maine, some, not all carry fabric and prices are wonderful.

The only place that housework comes before quilting is in the dictionary.
I was in the Ben Franklin in Carrollton, Ohio just a few weeks ago. Love the creaky wooden floors. They have a little bit of everything. They have a generous craft/sewing section. I could spend hours there just looking.

There is one in Winterset Iowa, right down the street from Fon's and Porter.
Great road trip with my Mom to hit both places.
I live within 20 miles of two of them in northwest iowa! They do have a nice variety of bolted and flat fold and lots and lots of fleece and basic minkee.
When I lived near Cleveland Ohio I use to shop at Ben Franklin all the time. I love those stores...
Thank you so much for the memory....tho truth is, we were just talking about the Ben Franklin that was in New Wilmington PA when we lived there.....several ornaments on our tree are ones our daughter picked out when she was just 3.......she's 41 this year. I LOVED that store !!!!!!
Of all the things i've lost, i miss my mind the most.
One supposedly in New Albany, IN and Jasper, IN. But could be old news on google search.

There is a Ben Franklin Store in Arcanum, Ohio. That is in Darke County. If I am thinking right, Liberty is south of Richmond Ind? So it would not be too far away for you. It was bought by a mother daughter pair who also work in it daily. Lots of sewing notions, fabric, etc. Many other items too. I always enjoy going there. I get my misc notions there instead of going to Wal-Mart in Greenville.
What I make with my hands, I give of my heart.
