I ran out of machine oil, do I need to use a special oil from the Bernina dealer or will some oil from my other machine be OK. The nearest Bernina dealer is 30 miles away and I dont have time to get there until next week....

as long as it's sewing machine oil you should be able to use it-
just don't use some other sort of oil-not made for sewing machines.

Ant sewing machine oil of good quality. I use the oil from my longarm which I buy by the quart. If the oil has turned yellow, disregard--it's still good.

I use any good machine oil for my Bernina, used even oil that's about 50 years old (or more).

I've used Singer oil on my Berninas for years. They haven't complained yet.

I read that any good, clear machine oil is fine. I use Singer oil and mine seems very happy every time it gets a dose.

I used some good quality machine oil NOT Bernina and got chewed out by my dealer. I was told to ONLY use Bernina oil. How they knew I'll never know..BUT this is also the same place that showed me how to thread my machine wrong and oil wrong among other things..and never called to tell to me or anything when THEY found out. This is a small town ~ I'm not thinking they have hundred's of customers they have sold a machine to. I have a sneaking suspicion also that there was something not quite right about my machine in the first place. Needless to say...I drive my machine 2 hours away to be serviced now instead of just in town. How sad is that??
