I hope all had a wonderful Vets Day. Just want to add another story.
About 6 years ago, in early Nov., my grandson and I were picking up one of his little friends for an overnight at my house. I had done this several times, allowing my grandchildren to have an overnight at my house with them.
P was an only child, and his parents were going about 30 miles away for the evening since they would be child free. I had met P's parents a few times, but they were really nervous about if I could handle things ok, and whether it would be safe for them to be so far from home. They gave me a list of numbers to call if needed, etc. I was laughing inside, as I was the experienced mother of three, and had other grandchildren, was a teacher, and had never lost a kid yet. So I said, "Don't worry! I'm a seasoned vet."
As we got in the car, the two boys were talking, when one asked, "Grandma, what war were you in?"
Obviously they had been taught about Veteran's Day at school!
