Did any of you have to endure rag curls? I personally detested looking like I had springs for hair.

Mother used rags to curl my hair...I always looked better in rags than when she took them out!

I remember vividly ! My Nana subscribed to McCalls, my sister and I had to take turns each month getting the paperdolls. Fun memories ! We used to cut out the models in the Sears catalog and use them too.

I loved Betsy as a child. My sister was the big seamstress in our house and she set me up with it.

I used to play with the paper dolls also. Thanks for the good memories. Forgot about these paper dolls and I was always excited for the magazine to come.

I remember them well also. There was a fabric recently at Hancock's that had those dolls and some of their clothes. I couldn't figure out what to do with it so I didn't get any, but now I wish I had

Me too. Eeeewww and the SMELL! It used to clear my dad and brothers out of the house for hours! Never had the rag perm though, my mom was a beautician before kids so she had all the tools of the trade. . . .

This brings back so many memories. I use to sit for hours at my grandmothers playing with my paper dolls. And those perms and rag curls I remember but not with any fondness. It must have been a thing back in the day for moms and aunts to gang up on us with the Toni's and Lilt home perms. Life sure was fun back in the day.
