A vacuum does it? What's your dog crossed with? Bear is a collie/malamute. (we think) But I have to line comb his whole coat to get him really clean. There's no way a vacuum would pull that undercoat out!
Lucatoni is a Malamute x Staffy...his coat is not as long as Bear's. He has a fairly thick dense undercoat which is gray and a really shiny short topcoat which is black, white chest markings and tan points. I have never seen another dog of the same mix, except his litter mates. The most amazing thing about our boy is, he doesn't have a "doggy" odour. Even when damp, he doesn't smell. He tends to have a couple of major shedding episodes a year, rather than constantly shedding. The undercoat comes in winter, then by summertime it thins out. Last time he went to the vet, the nurse told me he had the best coat she had ever seen on a dog. He is also the most talkative dog I've ever owned..

We live in a very arid climate....which may be why he is so easy to maintain...
