I have Amazon parrots and my cats stay away from them. Only takes one bite on the tial to know they will hurt you. My cats also do not bother them because I think it is because they talk. I never leave them alone in same room if the birds are out of their cages, can never be too safe. When my first bird was a baby she came walking into the kitchen asking "where are you?" She had 2 dogs and a cat following her at a big distance. I had only had her a couple weeks and knew then not to leave her out of cage if I was not in the room. Since I was a new bird mom I had no idea she would come looking for me. Thru the years she has chased the dog and cats off the couch if I was sitting or laying down.

I would love to share your picture and story with a couple bird groups I am on on Yahoo. I tried to send a private message, but evidently do not know what I am doing as it would not go. Please send message to me at [email protected]. Thank you, take care.

When we visited our daughter, in Australia, a few years ago, I spent the first couple of days, just looking at beautiful
birds....they were everywhere. Listening to their calls was also fabulous, and sometimes quite loud. We just loved them.
We have a grandaughter, Katie, who was accepted into the Vet program at the University of Queensland.

Great shot!!! Love it!!! Thanks for sharing. We have those lorikeets all around the place too as I've got a lot of trees around with flowers they can get the nectar from. The birds are also a reason why we haven't got any cats, although I love cats but they wouldn't be good for the wildlife around. Do you have black cockatoos too??? The white ones love to have a party in my orange and mandarine trees.
