What are they selling as quilting thread? You don't want hand quilting thread - it's much heavier. The bobbins may be iffy. Miss Elna likes her own and one other - may be old Kenmore ones. Schmertz needles are perfect.

Yes ma'am, I think it is hand quilting thread. That's what I bought it as. Gorgeous colors!! I only buy black, white and off-white but I couldn't resist $.49 red and blue!

Hand quilting thread is for hand sewing not machine.

What are you using in the machine?

I saw your post later of the wholecloth and realized what you bought the quilting thread for. Did you get the Elna some new thread? Let's get her sewing with her original bobbin before you try the new ones.

I haven't tried the new bobbins yet, but she seems to be working fine now. My son (14) has been using her more than me and they seem to be getting along just fine!! I think it was the needle, because I haven't had a bit of trouble from her since I got her a new one. We actually used serging thread this weekend and she didn't seem to mind it a bit!!

Yes, I guess I posted my find on the wrong post... I'm a hand quilter and I was thrilled to find hand quilting thread so cheap!!

Ashely R,

you may want to try a 50 weight thread, it is less thick than hand quilting thread and will require less adjustments on your tension for your machine.

good luck!

Oh, I would never use hand quilting thread in my sewing machines!!

She seems to be working fine now. She doesn't seem to mind the thread I've put in her now. I think the needle was causing the problem.

Thank you! Sewing with a machine is still new to me! I need all the help I can get!

Good for you. An Elna is too good a machine to be set aside.
