Camping and Quilting?

I make crazy quilts or work on a grandmother's flower garden while camping. The grandma's FG can have all the prep done at home and enough to stitch on for several weeks can fit in a small zip loc bag. If you want a small crazy quilt project make a crazy quilted tote to carry your handsewing supplies in when you go camping. decorate it up real good and it will be a great conversation starter. I am buying a FQ whenever we go on a trip and am making a memory GFG quilt. I use plastic not paper. I will post some pics in a day or two when I have time. Trying to capture a pic by fussy cuting and using the center to write where I bought it and when we went on the trip. Will post in pics for you to see.

I've been making quilts recently that incorporate hand embroidered squares, so the emboidery work goes along with me. I make up a little ziplock bag filled with what I need for the one block. When in between interesting projects, I have an english piecing hexagon project that has been on-the-go for years, and it is great for stitching while in the car as I don't have to worry about stitch length etc.

Great ideas here!! I am looking for an inexpensive small sewing machine to take along with me when we camp. Not for anything big but maybe making blocks or small projects. Any ideas? I saw some battery powered Singers on Joann's web site and wondered how they would be.
