A sailor went to sea, sea, sea
to see what he could see, see, see.
But all that he could see, see, see
Was the bottom of the deep blue sea, sea, sea.

This was harder with double jump rope jumping because you had to speed up at the same time on the "see, see, sees"!

Not last night but the night before, 24 gypsies came a knocking at the door, I asked them what they wanted and this is what they said. Spanish dancers do the twist,(then the jumper had to twist) Spanish dancers turn around (jumper turns around) Spanish dancers give a high kick, (jumper gives a high kick) Spanish dancers get out of this town.(jumper runs out and it is the next persons turn

We used to sing, "Miss Lucy had a baby, she named him Tiny Tim. She put him in the bathtub to see if he could swim. He drank up all the water, he ate up all the soap, he tried to eat the bathtub, but it wouldn't go down his throat." Miss Lucy called the Doctor, Miss Lucy, called the Nurse, Miss Lucy called the lady with the alligator purse".....
I also remember Strawberry Shortcake, Huckle Berry Pie, the letter I skip on will be my lucky guy" and you'd sing the ABC's and guess a guys name with the letter you miss on. I'm sure there were more, but I can't remember.

I don't remember them exactly but here are a few from the 50's.

Ice cream soda, Delawarie punch, tell me the nitials of your honey bunch. ABCDE...........and so on.

Not last night but the night before, 24 gypsies came a knocking at the door ( it goes on but can't remember the rest )

California oranges, tap me on the back.

I don't even know if jump rope is still popular, I hope so.
Wow!!! What a trip down memory lane! Ours was 24 robbers...we weren't allowed to say gypsies!!....knocking at the door...one went out, and came back in, and I hit him over the head with a rolling pin...how many hits...lol...then you kept twirling faster and faster till the person got tangled up!
