When I made mine I just laid the phone on material and cut around it, hemed both ends then sewed both sides, turned it out and added a strap long enough to hang around my neck, Later I made a small strap over the opening so the phone would not fall out. It was made of old levi's.

I made a cross body bag for my phone and added an outside pocket for my ID and credit cards. I was in Walmart the other day and saw some really cute fanny packs on clearance. I bought one and I really like it, I remember this past year designers were bringing them back for dressier occasions.

This is the one I made. I use it all the time. Different phone now so it doesn't fit inside the pouch any longer so I just shove the phone in my back pocket. But I use the pouch for my cc's. So much easier than a purse. And the size could certainly be adjusted to fit your phone.
