Default Cork Purse handle input/advice sought

Hello all,
I'm making the Harper handbag:

https://www.sewmanycreationsny.com/store/p167/Harper_Handbag.html#/

I intend to make it in cork, and wonder whether I should add any interfacing to the handles (which will be cork)?

Thoughts?
Advice?

I am thinking of making the bag on this page and she gives instructions specifically for making it with cork. There are detailed instructions for making the strap half way down and she doesn't use interfacing.... https://bluecallapatterns.com/blogs/...nia-bowler-bag

I've made several crossbody bags using cork for the strap. Pattern did not call for interfacing. Cork is pretty sturdy, don't think it's really needed.

Many quilt shops catty it, usually rolled up in a premeasured length. Have also seen it on Amazon.

It is a bit pricey, but you usually don't need a lot of it.

Native, most of the cork I've seen comes in 17 or 18 inches wide.
I got mine here:

I'm glad you asked this, Grmrm. I have decided to do this bag, but it uses vinyl-not cork...so I was wondering the same thing. (I love that bag you're making):

Watson, I love that bag too!

Thanks for the response, I think I'll put twill tape or webbing inside the handles just to be sure they won't stretch...and I love the bag Watson is thinking of making too - in fact, the pattern is in my collection already. The local quilt shop was going to have a class and I intended to take it as their bag maven is awesome- but she got full time work in her professional field and isn't doing as many classes now.....

GEMRM... there is a video series on how to make that bag that I'm going to do...It is about 6 hours long. Without the video I wouldn't have attempted it.

Watson

Here's another video about cork handles and she doesn't use anything in the middle.... https://sewsweetness.com/2018/11/vid...v=3e8d115eb4b3

She also makes this rolled handle that does have cording on the inside.... https://sewsweetness.com/2018/12/vid...v=3e8d115eb4b3

Watson - thanks for the info and the links. I've made that rolled handle type before as well, and it makes a nice handle.
