    Country Music Quotes

Do you have a country music quote that so often rings true? Mine is Kris Kristofferson singing "Everybody has to have somebody to look down on". Unfortunately seems to explain so much that goes on in our world. Am glad to say that I don't ever see that here on the QB. Feels like such a safe place to play!! Love you all!! Sally

One that sticks in my mind and always makes me chuckle is....."drop kick me Jesus through the goal posts of life."

No one believes me when I tell them that's a country song! I'm glad someone else has heard of it. (Actually I've never heard the song - just the title.)

    Joe Diffie's:
"Fill my boots up with sand, put a stiff drink (Coke, in my case) in my hand, prop me up beside the jukebox if I die"...
....because I want a glorious party among my friends and loved ones with bawdy jokes, wild tales, and happy memories about me when I go, before they divvy up my quilting studio!

Somebody told me about this song a long time ago....didn't believe 'em til I found it online. Doesn't ring true with me or anything like that....I just think it's hilarious! "If fingerprints showed up on skin, wonder whose I'd find on you"!

There are so many that are good.
Mama don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys-
Help me make it through the night-
    Whoa Sailor-
    I walk the line-
    Kiss an angel good morning-
Looking for love in all the wrong places-

Can't think of anymore right now but there are many

country songs seem to me to have the best lyrics.
put off till tomorrow what you can do today, and if you procrastinate long enough, you may never have to do it.

I love "Drop Kick Me Jesus" a friend told me about it back in the late '70's. My dad was a big football fan - when he died I wanted to play it at the service but my mom said no, a few months later when I did play it for her she was laughing and said my dad would have loved it. Bobby Bare has a few songs of a similar nature.

This reminds me of the Garth Brooks' song,
"I've got friend in low places
Where the whiskey drowns and the beer chases my blues away
    And I'll be ok
I'm not big on social graces so I'll slip on down to the OASIS ---
oh I've got friends in low places."

I just remember singing along RATHER LOUDLY in the kitchen with my 16 year old using a hairbrush for a microphone, my 3 year old using an ice cream scoop as a microphone and I had a spatula in my hand. We would slur the words "whiskey" and "beer" so the little one did not understand...LOL TOO FUNNY!!
