They are commonly known as a coconut crab and they are protected in some countries; e. g., Japan. Nasty looking aren't they? GiGi

Please, I need more story to go with this picture. Where in the world was this pic taken. Did you just walk out your door to get the garbage can and there it was. How common are they. It is one beautiful creature. Thanks for sharing this great pic. I would never think of taking this creatures life. Too beautiful.

I found this picture on the Fox news website. It is the second picture. I think some of these pictures were actual pretty cool. I agree, I couldn't eat him, I might build him his own beach to lounge on.
