I swear, almost every quilter I know has a cat!

My baby only has 3 legs, but he can quilt with the best of them! LOL! I keep a wicker basket of material under my sewing desk and he loves to sleep there. He will occasionally reach out and swipe my material and bat it, but for the most part he lays there and sleeps. He's a very lazy cat, and was like that before his accident.

ETA: He lost his back leg. He never goes outside, since hes' been declawed, but one night after I went to bed, the boys must have accidentally let him out, and the next morning my husband found him on our steps missing his leg. He was hit by the train that goes by our house! He recovered well and is fine now.

Sometimes, I'll go in there and find he's played with my thread on my machine! He'll have it unraveled and knotted up.

When I spread out a quilt on the floor, he comes flying and jumps on it. Never fails.

    Here he is:

Nope, no cats. Horribly allergic to the things (dogs, horses, etc too). I do have a pet button quail though. Maybe I shouldn't post this on a cat page... lol... don't want any of them to eat the quail :)

Heh. My kitty Sam passed away over a year and a half ago, and my sister shipped me her cat to have in June since she's deploying again. I layed out a D9 on the floor yesterday, and just like every good cat should he stopped, inspected, walked over and lay down on it. I think it's like a rule or something, to have an Inspector Cat.

I and some others make up for the quilters that don't have cats. I have 5. We have one poster from Australia who breeds scottish folds, Norwegian Forest cats and I think British shorthairs. I think she posted recently that she has 49!

  OK I agree for those of us who do have cats and no amount of banishing of the quilt police will get rid of that particular rule.

I have a cat but she's banished from the sewing room. There's something about that one room in the house that makes her do naughty things, like chew batting or cry incessantly as I'm trying to figure out measurements or knock things off the table so she can lay down (like the button box).

No cat here. A little mixed breed dog that claims me as her pet.

I would have a cat and even a dog and no telling what else we would have but we can't have pets where we live. BUMMER. So I have a squirrel that I feed out back. Does that count?

I have had cats since I was about 5 years old, and once had 25+, but I live in the country and they were all outside. Now I have two inside and two outside, plus two dogs. The current two inside like to climb all over my sewing table and knock things off.

Before these two I had one inside cat who lived to be 19. I swear he could hear fabric rustle! He could be sound asleep at the far end of the house, but if I laid a quilt top out on the floor he'd be sitting smack dab in the middle of it within a minute. I don't know how he knew because fabric doesn't really make a sound. Some sort of "cat sense" I guess.

I have an indoor cat rescued from local HS. Usually at least one outside that someone dropped off, currently only one. I used to have one that would wrap herself around the head of the sewing machine if I sat down to it!

Although I like cats, I cannot have one anywhere in my house because my DH is terribly allergic to them. Over the years we've owned several dogs and when my DD and her two girls lived with us for about 5 years, we had my daughter's Quaker Parrot (Tweets) with us. Many times while I'd be sewing "Tweets" would be on the nearby table next to the window and I'd hear, "Hi There, whatcha doin?" and I'd automatically smile and answer with, "I'm sewing". Then I'd look over to see that "Tweets" was actually looking out the window and trying to converse with other birds. And before moving in with us, when my DD was going through her divorce and had to work, she'd leave her radio on an easy pop program to keep Tweets entertained while she was gone all day. Apparently about 2 hours after she'd leave for work the station would change over to hip-hop music, so once they all began living at our house, Tweets would entertain us by singing rap songs and dancing along his perch, with his head bopping to the music he was singing. And we were amazed that we could identify the dozens of songs Tweets would sing.

Have 11 adopted cats. Outside cats unless one slips inside to say "Hello" to me. They are my "watch cats" outside in the garden as I work in the garden or pick berries. First adopted was the 6 kitten-litter: Blackie girl, Freddy, Inky, Roger, Mischief and Boots. Then came Henry, Tom and Tom-T. Then the vet tells me three more needed a good home, so Blondie, Win and Wendy joined the cat family.

My husband says, "No more". We will see. They have lots of country to roam in and are excellent mousers.

I have Beagle Diva (see my av) and a Mastiff. Both think they are Quilters Quality Control Specialists, and they want to test drive everything I make!

I have cats in the house although they are not to fond of me. lol One is supposed to be my daughters cat (Ariel) and the other is supposed to be my husbands cat(Bastogne). Well Ariel loves my husband and Bastogne loves my daughter so they swapped I guess. My husband also has a four year old Basset Hound. Sunday I went and picked up MY DOG, an eight week old merel Great Dane.

Although I only claim one of these four animals I feed and clean up after all four, even though my husband is their favorite! Kinda odd the kids are the same way. lol What would men do without moms? their kids would love them but they would sooner or later starve to death and stink in the process.

It is safe to say we all are animal lovers....:-) ...
my cat is 23 years old and shows no signs of slowing down...even though he has lost his hearing early and now he has catarac's and is all but blind....but his sniffer is working fine indeed....:-)...

No cats--I'm allergic, unfortunately. But my girl Molly in my avatar I call my "catdog" for her feline tendencies. She was raised with a kitten and I think something rubbed off on her!
