I have the one from Bed Bath and Beyond but I like nativetexan's answer best!

I just got a lotion applicator at Bed, Bath and Beyond. It was about $5 and works just fine. Now my back isn't itchy! I didn't get the one that you load with lotion, but the one you squeeze some lotion on and rub on your back.

I used to have a pretty decent and then switched to one I found at Bed Bath (the one you fill and it has little roller balls). However, it works better putting the lotion on the outside and doing it, but the quality has gone downhill and all the little balls are popping out. I need to buy a different one.

But the best lotion applicator I have is DH.

I actually do it with a back brush that has a sponge on it instead of bristles. It's a bit messy so you really need to be in the shower to do it. I put the lotion on my shoulders and upper back and the go for the slather. I did try a brush with a hollow handle once, but the lotion was too thick to go through the sponge unless it was the density of liquid soap.
All the best with your efforts.

that's a hard one! Maybe a piece of saran wrap w/ a cream(a little thicker), instead of a lotion? best I've got!

I just saw on Dr. Oz last week that people that have really dry skin can benefit from taking Zinc....I don't remember the amount to take, but it's probably on his web site.

I put baby oil on the damp wash cloth after I get out of the shower, and holding opposite corners I can get it on my back. Then I dry off. It is suppose to be better to put the oil on damp skin - not sure why but this really helps my back, and isn't messy or slick!

I bought one of the scrunchies at the dollar store that has a long handle for washing your back. I use it for lotion

I suggest Curel lotion first of all. Then: I save the "empty" bottles and use the wand that reaches into the bottle to reach my back.
